The Pigsty - Facilities

Trewena Cottages are perfect if you’re looking for either a relaxing holiday or plenty to do! Little Avalon is a perfect semi-detached cottage sleeping four guests, whilst The Pigsty is an ‘upside down’ detached cottage sleeping perfect for a couple’s retreat. They are located adjacent to the owner’s home in a quiet rural hamlet, ideal for exploring the Cornish countryside and the wonderfully diverse coastline. They lie midway between the South Cornish coast, including Falmouth and the beautiful Lizard Peninsula with their hidden coves and pretty harbours, and the rugged North Cornish coastline, famous for its wide surfing beaches. Swanpool and Maenporth beaches are also close by and offer watersports.
The local area attracts walkers and water sports enthusiasts, with Stithian’s Lake and water sports centre 5 miles away providing sailing, canoeing and wind surfing. Take a small ferry or boat trip to St Mawes, Flushing or a Helford River trip. The area has an abundance of wildlife including seals, basking sharks, dolphins and bird life.
The waterside town of Falmouth has a historic deep-water harbour, prestigious marinas along with a host of restaurants, cafés, boutique shops and art galleries - Falmouth Art Gallery is one of the best in Cornwall. From the Prince of Wales Pier, you can take a boat trip along the River Fal, or Carrick Waters to a smuggler’s cottage or hop on the ferry to St Mawes and visit the castle there. The Maritime Museum is certainly worth a visit. Pendennis Castle has defended Cornwall since Tudor times, and you can enjoy the breathtaking views out to sea.
This area has many beautiful sub-tropical gardens including Trebah, Glendurgan and Trelissick. Truro, Cornwall’s capital city is only a short drive away. Penzance, Lands End, the Roseland Peninsula, Padstow, St Ives, Looe, Polperro and Port Isaac are all within easy reach by car, as well as the world-famous Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. There are beautiful beaches on both the south and north coasts, fishing villages, coastal walks, cycling, fishing, golf, and a plethora of National Trust properties and grounds are all within reach from this delightful cottage. It really is the perfect location from which to explore this remarkable area, and the stunning county of Cornwall. Beach 4¾ miles.
