Swallow Cottage - Facilities

This super little property is ideal for couples of all ages looking for a rural hideaway. Located midway between Boscastle and Tintagel, Swallow Cottage is a lovely single-storey holiday cottage attached to the owners art studio. Light, bright and airy in decoration, it has been thoughtfully fitted and furnished to provide a comfortable base from which to explore this lovely part of Cornwall.
Formerly cattle stalls, Swallow Cottage offers a cosy wood burner and a full wall of French doors from the living area, boasting sweeping views across to Bodmin Moor in the distance, and leading to an enclosed patio area ideal for al fresco dining.
The cottage enjoys shared access of the owners’ 10-acre grounds, where there are many walks available including through a secluded wood in the valley. The cottage is close to Tintagel, the mythical home of King Arthur, Boscastle with its picturesque harbour, and Port Isaac, made famous by the TV series ‘Doc Martin’. Further up the coast are the lovely sandy surfing beaches of Crackington Haven and Bude. In the other direction, and equally as beautiful, are the beaches of Polzeath and Daymer Bay which are just past Port Isaac, on the way to Rock and the pretty fishing village of Padstow. Beach 4 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Firstly let me say that Toby who owns the cottage was very welcoming, warm and friendly. And the cottage is modern and well placed for touring the north coast of Cornwall between Padstow and Bude. But the real draw for this cottage is the wood and fields to walk your dogs which is excellent, as there are only a few beaches dog friendly in this part of Cornwall. Most notably Widemouth Bay, Booby beach/ Constantine Bay, both are great and have cafes and toilets to hand. We did find a few short comings to the cottages such as there isn't a washing machine or a vacuum cleaner in the property which are a must when you have dogs. Also the cottage is directly on a road which leads to tintagel, which can get noisy during the day, and we didn't know when we booked it. However this is a unique property for those who have dogs and need somewhere safe to excercise them, so would recommend it for that.

    Our stay July, 2019

Hubby, me and our Sprocker Spaniel have just had one of the most wonderful weeks of our lives in this beautiful little cottage. The hosts were so welcoming and answered any questions we had along the way, offering advice and info about the local area which wasn't already in the handbook provided. We wanted to have a bbq and Toby provided us with a lovely gas bbq for us to use. We were close to lots of beautiful places and we spent some lovely days out in Tintagel, Boscastle and St Nectans Glen but, to be honest, our magical place was Nutty's Wood which is part of the property. Floss was never happier than when she was investigating the many paths and clearings in this little piece of heaven on earth. Thank you for the most wonderful week away and we hope to come back soon...

The cottage was very well equipped for a break away, and lovely and clean... nice addition were the snacks for humans and the pooch! Boscastle was a 5 min drive away, and the grounds of the cottage with Nutty’s Wood was so lovely!

Nutty Wood is amazing for the dogs, they can run free and have great fun and feeding carrots to the rescue horses is a must!! We had a lovely couple of days break at Swallow Cottage with our two dogs. The cottage was perfect and the walk through Nutty's Wood on the owners ground was great fun for the dogs. I would highly recommend to anyone who wishes to have a break and get away from the busy day to day stresses of daily life.
