Lyndale - Facilities

Lyndale is a detached holiday home with sea views over the bay towards Newlyn with a pretty lawn and flower bordered front garden and a small enclosed rear patio and lawn. The house is ideally located just yards from the wide flat promenade which runs from the fishing harbour at Newlyn to Penzance town and marina. This is a great location for exploring west Cornwall and the nearby fishing harbours of Newlyn and the picturesque village of Mousehole.
The house has been lovingly restored by its owners and provides a comfortable, family holiday home. The flexible accommodation will appeal to families, friends or couples all year round. There is a spacious, open plan living/dining room with sea views, solid wooden floors, a welcoming wood burner and full central heating to ensure guests enjoy a cosy stay, whatever the season.
The area has a great reputation for restaurants, art galleries and of course some of the best coastal walks and beaches in Cornwall. The mainline railway station, direct into Penzance is just a five minute taxi ride away making the property accessible by public transport. St Michael’s Mount dominates the bay and overlooks the wide, sweeping, white sandy beaches of Mounts Bay. Maritime history, pirates and tales of mermaids surround the area and the town offers great shops, pubs, cafés and art galleries, including the famous Newlyn Art Gallery. Just a short drive away and visitors can be surfing at Whitesand Bay at Sennen Cove, exploring the legendary Lands End, taking in a breath taking performance at the Minack Open Air Theatre, with the ocean as a back drop, or out on the wild moorlands and scenic coastal drive that runs between Pendeen, Cape Cornwall and St Ives. The areas mining history now has World Heritage status and the area is used extensively for the filming of the TV series, Poldark.
The area attracts walkers, cyclists, surfers, kayaking enthusiasts, horse riders, golfers and gardeners throughout the year. With sunny beaches to relax on during the warmer months to the visitors who flock to the area during the winter period to storm watch and walk along the quiet wind swept beaches. Christmas and New Year celebrations also attract visitors with festivals, Christmas markets and the famous Mousehole lights. There is a local cinema at Newlyn with restaurants, pubs, and tea rooms all within easy walking distance. Enjoy the open air, sea water swimming pool on the promenade in Penzance, experience a day trip to the beautiful Isles of Scilly by ferry from Penzance or by air from the nearby Lands End airport or take the scenic coastal train from St Erth into St Ives, passing the wide estuary at Hayle. The historic town of Marazion is close by and visitors can walk to St Michael’s Mount via the causeway at low tide or take a small ferry at high tide. Beach ¼ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

We are a group of five friends who have shared a holiday together every year for the past 25 years. We found Lyndale to be very conveniently located for access to Penzance, Newlyn and beyond. We enjoyed the view of the sea, the beautifully kept garden, the welcome pack and the comfortable living space. We also appreciated the quietness. There was no trouble parking our car, and local buses were convenient. A bus timetable would have been appreciated, and also some information about good local places to eat. And being of the older generation we did find some of the kitchen equipment baffling, at least initially - but the owners were helpful when we phoned. All in all we had a thoroughly enjoyable experience during our stay at Lyndale.
