Hen Joppa is a rustic waterfront cottage with reverse level living which allows for outstanding uninterrupted sea, harbour, and coastal views. This three-bedroom property has the advantage of parking as well as a roof garden where you can admire the uninterrupted view across to St Michaels Mount and Newlyn harbour. The bedrooms are on the ground floor with the master en-suite being situated at the back of the property behind a quirky bookcase door, there there is a separate set of stairs to the dining area as well as access to a small private courtyard. Each bedroom has its own en-suite with heated floors and towel rails with one double or two beds with the option of being super king or two singles. In the hallway is a cupboard where you will find the washing machine and dryer. From the hall the stairs lead to an impressive lounge/dinner, the views from here are amazing and can be admired all year long, after a long day you can snuggle up on the comfy sofa with a book or a hot drink and watch the ever changing landscape. Patio doors lead you to the roof terrace where you can see the fishing harbour and beyond, an ideal way to enjoy lazing on the sun beds or eating al fresco. If you take your fishing rod you can try and catch yourself some fish for supper from the roof terrace! The dining area has an impressive fireplace with a coal effect fire great for when the weather turns cold, you can be cosy inside and enjoy the stormy seas outside, there is a wide choice of books, puzzles, and games as well as a DVD collection to watch on the 40” Freeview TV, or why not listen to music choose from a selection provided by the owner.
The kitchen has a stable door which leads to a small balcony with bistro table and chairs where you can sit and people watch. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, fridge, freezer, microwave, gas hob and electric oven. A few doors down there is a pub one of a few in the area, and a little further is the free car park, you don’t need a car to get around as you are in walking distance to the shops, cafés, restaurants and a Cornish Meadery. A 10-minute walk along the promenade will take you into Penzance, for those who want a longer trek you can walk to Mousehole along the coast path which will take approx. 20 minutes or to St Michaels Mount and Marazion to the east.
If you would like to explore the culture, there are three art galleries in Newlyn as well as the famous Tate in St Ives. Walk along the harbour on the cobbled streets, wander in the small independent shops St Ives is a full day out for everyone with plenty of places and choice for eating and drinking. Penzance is the nearest town, full of history with small roads and alley ways to explore, sit in the beautiful Morrab Garden with a cold drink or ice-cream after exploring the town. There are plenty of places to explore, the Minnack theatre is 15 minutes away, an outdoor amphitheatre where you can watch local productions, or walk along the rugged coastline looking for humpback whales and seals. The stunning beach of Porthcurno is here, you could be in the Mediterranean with the turquoise bay, soft white sand, and granite cliffs. With glistening sea views across the busy working harbour of Newlyn, this characterful cottage, with a large Mediterranean style roof terrace, is the perfect place to relax and unwind. Newlyn is an all-seasons location, famous for the Newlyn/ Mousehole Christmas lights and festivities. It is on the scenic cycle route and has a regular bus service.
