Honeysuckle - Facilities

These pet friendly holiday barns are situated less than half a mile from the stunning north coast of Cornwall. In the heart of this small Cornish hamlet, the barns are furnished and fitted to provide a comfortable base from which to explore the many attractions that Cornwall has to offer. Each barn has a well-equipped kitchen and TV in the main bedrooms, as well as open-plan living. Each has its own sitting-out area, which is ideal for watching the wildlife and al fresco dining. Guests are close to the coastal path and if you walk north, you will reach Tintagel, the mythical home of King Arthur, with its array of shops, pubs and restaurants. A little further on, Boscastle with its picturesque harbour is a must. A small beach can be reached on foot, approximately ½ mile away. Travelling down the coast, guests will come to Port Isaac, where the TV series ’Doc Martin’ is filmed, and further down the coast, visit the beautiful sandy surfing beach at Polzeath and the dunes at Rock where you can take a ferry across to Padstow. From Padstow, with its working harbour, shops, pubs and restaurants, you can hire bikes and cycle the Camel Trail to Wadebridge and beyond to Bodmin. Close by is Bodmin Moor, unspoilt moorland at its best, and for walkers the tors on the moor are a must. Further down the coast is Newquay, with its famous surfing beaches, Blue Reef Aquarium and Zoo and if you travel to the south coast, you will find Looe, Fowey and Mevagissey, just a few of the charming coastal villages. For cycling enthusiasts, there is a cycle hub at Lanhydrock, with some wonderful forest routes to be taken. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Honeysuckle - Reviews

    Our stay October, 2019

It’s a charming little cottage, just as we expected from booking, but it needs a few things sorting out. The beds are quite uncomfortable, at very least they need mattress toppers, ideally new beds and mattresses. The shower /bathroom needs a complete revamp, the shower is pretty useless, and if your taller than 5’6’’ forget it as you won’t fit under the shower head. The disabled seat in the shower just keeps falling down and hitting your legs, why is the whole place set up for disabled, seriously, who goes to a location like this if disabled ? The bathroom was advertised as a wet room, ideal for washing dogs after the beach, you can’t do that as only a small portion of the floor falls correctly, the rest just runs out the door, so you have to use the curtain which then means you may as well use the sink for how much room you have, not my idea of a wet room. Kitchen carpet is well worn and dirty, but I could forgive that as it’s dog friendly accommodation. Tv gets a signal when it feels like it depending on which way the wind is blowing, didn’t bother me as I’m not a tv person. Internet is non existent, that was quite annoying especially as a phone line is present it would be easy to have good internet. It was an ok stay, but could have been so much better, we wouldn’t return here

we stayed a week in honeysuckle cottage with our saint Bernard the cottage is spacious although it does need abit of tlc i.e. new flooring in living area carpet stained appliances a bit dated with dials worn off but wet room and bedroom is fine frontage of cottage is secure for dogs but personally I would do away with astro turf as in the heat there is a strong smell of dog wee which is not nice. if your after a total get away in a secluded cottage then this is just right we had only 1 problem as advertised the property is within walking distance to the coastal path to Tintagal but if you have a disability or like us a large dog then the walk is NOT accessible due to the national trust building walls with slates sticking out of them to use as steps which ment instead of doing a bit of walking with our dog we had to drive her to places to walk which was a shame but a good week was had by us

Cottage is in a small complex , quiet well thought out conversion, interior is dated but useable, DOES NOT have 2 electric beds, only one!! lucky that only one of us has to have one. Cottage was tidy, not as clean as you would expect and appliances are very dated, oven has not got temperatures on dials, they have worn away, in previous properties all electrics have had PAT test labels, dated to show test date, none here. Their is WIFI but it is painfully slow and not suitable for streaming, TV signal was hit and miss, although this is I think a problem in that area, if the internal of the property was updated I would stop in the future, its a shame when these lovely conversions start to look dated, a bit of tlc and new appliances and I would return. having said all that we did have a great week and we were comfortable .

Very well equipped. Carpet could do with a good clean. The stay was spoilt by the house next door having a new heating system installed, and the workmen using shed outside sitting room window for storage and leaving adjoining gate open, which meant we had to keep front door closed to keep dogs in and curtains closed to stop them barking.

We had a lovely holiday in this charming cottage that has ever amenity that one could need. Including free WiFi We were close by lots of popular holiday destinations and managed to visit many place due to the cottage being close to places such as Port Isaac, Tintagel and Boscastle which were all within easy reach. The owners were kind caring and considerate. The two single beds were very comfortable but we easily pushed them together which gave a super king size bed. The leather settee and leather recliner chair were both very comfortable and there was an enclosed space where if we needed to could have let our dogs out for a comfort break but didn’t need to as a field close by. Fridge freezer and washing machine, cooker, tumble dryer, television and microwave- all with instructions and all full size and working. A wet room with all facilities for someone with disabilities available such as grab bars and seat. Superb facilities all in all and also plenty of room to park in an enclosed off the road private area adjacent to the cottage. Thank you for a very wonderful holiday which felt like home from home
