Coachmans - Facilities

Just 10 minutes’ walk from the beautiful sandy beach and boasting stunning views across Praa Sands to the Lizard peninsula beyond, the handsome farmhouse at Pentreath Farm was once a staging post for the London stagecoach and now offers a very comfortable ground floor apartment. Located down an off-road track the property is peaceful, quiet and remote and retaining original features in its converted interior and enjoying its own garden area, it sits beside the family-run working flower farm and an unobtrusive family camping field. The nearby beach sports a café, bar and fish and chip shop. Surfing lessons pick up from the farm and fishing trips can be arranged. Penzance, St Michael’s Mount, Minack Open Air Theatre and Tate Gallery at St Ives, are all a short drive. Shop and pub 0. 5 miles.

Coachmans - Reviews

  • Jude - Oxford 13th January 2020

    Our stay January, 2020

Very good value for money for 2 people.

  • Talfryn - Tamworth 15th October 2019

    Our stay October, 2019

Location is great, short distance to beach and easy access to other areas. Problem with accommodation, lack of space to store clothes ie no drawers, very limited hanging space. No hooks for coat or for wet towels. Saucepans in the kitchen rusty unable to use. Bed and sofa very uncomfortable, a lot of potential with a little more thought.

    Our stay October, 2019

A lovely apartment (one of three in the building, it occupies the right hand side of the ground floor) and very clean with a great sea view over Praa Sands. Excellent for self-catering with microwave oven, cooker and hob. On the slight down side, there are no drawers for clothes in the (compact) bedroom and the track from the road would not be suitable for anyone with a low-slung sports car. We loved it even though we picked a wet week in early October. A great centre for touring the western part of Cornwall.

There was a lovely view of the sea from the property and you could hear it too which was lovely. We went late in the year and it did smell slightly damp but would probably be better during the warmer months.

  • Adelaide - Manchester 28th August 2019

    Our stay August, 2019

The cottage was lovely and the welcome pack of cream tea and wine was really nice the only negative piont about the cottage was the bed, it badly needs replacing very uncomfortable you can feel the springs we ended up coming home early due to my back ☹️

Had a great time at Coachmans but could have been better with some straight forward improvements. Firstly, the bed mattress is poor and needs changing to a firmer one - slept well but ended up with back and neck ache in the mornings. Also, no rack to drain washing up so crockery and wine glasses had to be piled up by the sink. Asked twice for a rack - promised one but nothing turned up. A washing up brush would have helped too. Lots of cobwebs around the back of furniture. Floor gritty when we arrived but that could be sand blowing in. On the plus side, there was no trouble with noise from the campsite even when it was busy. Everything worked in the flat and it smelled fresh. Shower really good. Lovely location. Beach and coastal path easy to get to. Ideal for walkers on a budget like we were.

A well equipped cottage in a great location for beach and coastal walks. Just two complaints. The biggest was the bed. I don't think we had a good nights sleep all fortnight. Also the sofa was uncomfortable as it was so low down.

Photo in brochure gives wrong impression of how close to the beach you are. Can only get there by walking down very steep lane. Nice and clean and welcome pack was very much appreciated. Could do with mixing bowl and oven dishes.

We had a great stay at the Coachmans - great location being so close to Praa Sands beach, St Michael's Mount etc. The welcome hamper was a lovely thought and we enjoyed the cream tea (jam, then cream - a la Cornwall!) It was a shame the bbq was not available as advertised as we were looking forward to toasting some marshmallows with a beautiful view. The Coachmans could also get quite warm so a fan would have been good. Maybe a few less pillows on the sofa too...???

    Our stay April, 2019

A perfect and peaceful location with a lovely welcome. Arrived to a cream tea, bottle of wine and a newspaper. The cottage was very comfortable and had all the facilities you would need. The view was stunning and lovely to have breakfast watching over the bay. The location was extremely handy for visiting anywhere in the far west of Cornwall. Looking forward to going back.

Lovely little flat in great location. Only drawback was the steep hill down to the beach but we managed!
