The Retreat - Facilities

The Retreat is located in a quiet residential area in Falmouth, just a short walk away from the bustling town centre and beaches. It is an ideal choice for couples searching for both a romantic bolthole and an ideally-situated base from which to explore all that Falmouth has to offer. Semi-detached to the owners’ main home, The Retreat benefits from beautiful views and has recently been renovated and refurbished to a high specification.
The rear garden is a glorious suntrap – landscaped and adorned with Mediterranean flora, it boasts the feel of a far flung destination. Guests have exclusive use of The Retreat’s patio, perfect for al fresco summer dining, and a pebble ‘beach’, complete with two comfortable rattan sun loungers which are ideal for lounging poolside.

When you need to cool off, the owners are pleased to offer guests the complimentary use of their private pool – a real advantage when the Cornish beaches are packed. For guests seeking respite from the sun, retreat to the patio and unwind the awning or head to The Retreat’s own courtyard at the front of the property.
When you’re relaxed and ready to explore, Falmouth, a vibrant seaside town steeped in maritime history, is a very walkable destination from The Retreat. ’The Moor’ in Falmouth town is ¾ mile away - from here, take a boat trip from the Prince of Wales Pier around the stunning Carrick Roads or visit the quaint town of St Mawes and its castle, on the Roseland Peninsula. Continue from ’The Moor’ through the town, popular nowadays for its abundance of independent shops, restaurants and cafés, to Falmouth ’Events Square’ for the National Maritime Museum .

For those in search of the coast, The Penmere Circular walk practically begins at the front door and will take you around the beaches via Falmouth’s seafront promenade, Pendennis Point and The Harbour for the most breathtaking coastal scenery. You may be tempted to try one of the many watersports on offer at the beaches of Swanpool and Gyllyngvase, but if not, you can enjoy a pit stop with a view at either beaches’ wonderful cafés.
If you fancy a break from walking, Penmere train station is conveniently located 175 yards away. Travel one stop to Falmouth town for Events Square or two stops to Falmouth Docks for Pendennis Castle, Falmouth Seafront Promenade, the docks and the harbour. The Maritime Line also takes you to Truro, Cornwall’s capital city, where you can connect to services to St Ives, Carbis Bay, Newquay and Looe as well as connecting The Retreat to mainline train services to London and up and down the country.
