The Headmasters Cottage - Facilities

Formerly the schoolmasters’ residence, the delightful and spacious Headmaster’s Cottage dates back to the 1800s. The Cornish Delabole slate floors complement the leather sofas, oak furniture, 400-thread count designer bedding, goose down duvets, choice of pillows, cosy dressing gowns and fluffy, white, 100% Egyptian cotton towels, so as to make this the perfect hideaway. With two bedrooms each with a kingsize bed, yet a maximum guest occupancy of 2, it is ideal for couples, couples who cannot sleep in the same bed, but whom both deserve the luxury of a king size bed, two friends travelling together, or an adult and a 16+ years old child.

The beautiful south-facing gardens have level lawns and an established spring wild flower meadow, attracting an abundance of wildlife. Every window benefits from fabulous, uninterrupted, long distance countryside views across; Kit Hill, Caradon Hill, Sharptor, Notter Tor and Bodmin Moor. Walk or cycle directly from the property along the many public footpaths and quiet lanes in order to immerse yourself in the picturesque serenity.

This beautiful area of Cornwall really is a hidden gem. Gastronomic delights include Master Chef Winner, Anton Piotrowski’s, award-winning gastro-pub, The Springer Spaniel, at Treburley, whilst Louis’ Tea Rooms on Kit Hill offers breath-taking views of Plymouth Sound. National Trust properties include Cotehele, Buckland Abbey and Lydford Gorge. Neighbouring Bodmin Moor villages include Pensilva, with moorland horse riding for all abilities, Minions with its moorland walks to the ancient Hurlers stone circles and the Cheesewring rocks, which offer fabulous panoramic views to the coast. Gunnislake forms the start of the scenic Tamar Valley Railway Line and canoe and cycle hire is available at Calstock, which is opposite historic Morewellham Quay on the banks of the beautiful River Tamar. There is an open-air Sterts Theatre, Siblyback Lake offers water sports, windsurfing, fishing, kayaking, walking and off road cycle route, whilst nearby St Mellion International Resort offers golf. The local ancient market towns of Callington, Launceston and Liskeard are all a short drive away.

Cornwall’s fabulous north coast with the unforgettable beaches of Padstow, Newquay and Watergate Bay; The Eden Project; and the Jamaica Inn, of Daphne Du Maurier fame, are all under 1 hour away. Similarly are the atmospheric south coast fishing villages of Polperro, Fowey and Looe. The Headmaster’s Cottage is conveniently located adjacent to the owner’s property. Seaton Beach 17 miles. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
