Swallows Barn - Facilities

With views across open countryside from 2 acres of pretty lawned gardens, Gwedna Barns is set in a secluded, wooded, rural spot, on a non-working farm and situated within a World Heritage site. Gwedna Barns consists of three holiday properties with their own garden areas and seating and the use of a children’s play area. The Long Barn brims with character and charm, with a split-level living arrangement and cosy open kitchen with a lofty beamed ceiling. The garden has rattan furniture where you can sit and relax and enjoy the far reaching countryside views. The Stable has an open-plan living area which has been designed to take in the full height of the building with an exposed beamed ceiling, a wood-burning stove and French doors leading to its own garden with extensive countryside views. Swallows Barn successfully blends contemporary facilities with a classic, Cornish granite facade. The property has its own garden with far-reaching views from the seating area with rattan furniture, and an open-plan living space with a raised living room and door to the garden. The properties are close to the attractive village of Godolphin Cross in the beautiful Cornish countryside. The nearby Goldolphin House is steeped in Cornwall’s mining history and is one of the country’s most significant houses. The south west of Cornwall provides some of the best surfing, fishing and coastal walking in England. Gwedna Barns’ peaceful location provides easy access to the area’s beaches and coves. The sweeping sands of Gwithian are a 15-minute drive to the north, whilst Prussia Cove, with its caves, tales of smuggling and crystal clear water, lies 5 miles to the south. Penzance, The Lizard and St Ives are all within a 20-minute drive. The old market town of Helston, with its elegant Georgian town houses, is nearby, and the main A30, just a short drive away, provides access to the whole of west Cornwall. Enjoy the surf culture, attractive countryside, stunning coast scenes, history and art; all to be found in south west Cornwall. Horse riding 3½ miles, golf 4½ miles. Shop/P. O. 1½ miles, pub 3 miles.
These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 12 guests.

Swallows Barn - Reviews

  • Elaine - Southampton 7th November 2019

    Our stay November, 2019

Loved this cottage, it was so comfortable and cosy and I loved the decor. The view across the fields watching the pheasants each morning was lovely. The cottage was so well equipped and had everything that you needed. The location is right off the beaten track and so peaceful just how we like it. The welcome cream tea and bottle of wine was a really nice touch too....

    Our stay July, 2019

Absolute tranquility and within easy access of both the north and south coast of Cornwall for plenty of sight-seeing. The layout of the barn is super and we loved sitting outside in the evenings - a lovely view of the countryside. It is well equipped and even games and DVDs for children. We highly recommend.

    Our stay June, 2019

Excellent location. Lovely barn with cot/highchair and a range of toys, books and games to keep our 3 and 1 year old girls entertained. Lovely welcome gifts of scones, cream and jam for us and gingerbread men for the children. Milk, tea coffee and sugar also fab and rare! Owners daughter was a fantastic help with a couple of issues we had. I would say a stair gate between kitchen and sitting room would have been helpful too as having a baby that wants to explore but not yet able to negotiate a couple of steps on her own was a bit tricky when one of us was trying to do cooking, chores etc and the other playing with our eldest. Would certainly recommend and visit again!

    Our stay June, 2019

The owners were friendly and welcomed us with a cream tea and gingerbread men for the children. We were provided with a cot and a highchair and the cottage had lots and lots of toys. Everything was very clean and well cared for. The cottage is well located in beautiful scenery with supermarkets nearby and all the highlights of south west Cornwall within easy reach.

We had an amazing time at Swallows Barn. Our 11 month old was perfectly happy with the free addition of a cot and high chair. Very well situated to access all ‘attractions’, but still quiet and peaceful. Beautiful converted barn and we loved the decor and the garden, especially with that view! Geoff and his daughter were very welcoming and we hope to return again.
