High Lanes - Facilities

High Lanes is a comfortable, cosy cottage, located in a convenient spot ideal for exploring the rugged north coastline, and the tranquil creeks and coves of south Cornwall. This detached stone property provides spacious living and dining areas including an additional conservatory and a covered private sitting-out area and patio to the rear, and up a few steps to an extensive fully enclosed gravel patio with flower beds. With cosy wood burners in both living rooms guests can snuggle up whatever the time of year.
Just 4 miles to Hayle with its long wide sandy beach, and dunes stretching up to Gwithian and Godrevy lighthouse perched on its tiny rocky island. Continue a few more miles up the coast to Portreath, a popular seaside destination with families. Close by, visit Tehidy Golf and Country Park with pathways, bridle paths, cycle trails, lakes and café.
The area is a haven for surfers, walkers and bird watchers. RSPB Hayle Estuary and Marazion Marsh Nature Reserve attract bird and wildlife enthusiasts from around the UK. There is also an abundance of sea wildlife including seals and dolphins, both frequent visitors to the coastline.
Take the scenic coastal train from nearby St Erth in to St Ives passing many of the area’s most beautiful beaches. Alternatively, St Ives and its picturesque harbour is just a short drive, home to many artists due to the glorious natural light. Dine al fresco in one of the popular cafés and restaurants dotted along the seafront, or visit the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Museum.
Continue down the coast for a few miles to the historic town of Marazion, with access to St Michael’s Mount perched on the rocky island. The mount can be reached on foot by causeway at low tide or by small ferry boat at high tide. The area is great for walkers with miles of glorious unspoiled coastline. Cycle hire is available at Portreath and keen cyclists can explore the old tram line running from Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south coast.
The Gateway to West Cornwall is just a short drive and home to Land’s End, Sennen Cove, Mousehole, Newlyn and the Minack Open Air Theatre overlooking the beautiful cove at Porthcurno.
The local area has pubs, small shop and Trevaskis Farm outlet boasting a superb café and restaurant. Beach 4 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.
