Shalom - Facilities

This detached holiday bungalow, refurbished in 2021 and set in a quiet road, provides all you need for a holiday in one of Cornwall’s most beautiful spots. Local attractions include Holywell Bay’s golf course, Camel Creek Adventure Park, Llappa Valley Railway, Callestick Ice Cream Parlour, Healey’s Cornish Cider Farm and the South West coastal path. Holywell Bay offers 2 pubs within walking distance and Cubert village provides a further pub, post office, shop, excellent fish and chip shop, local bakery and tea room. Locally, enjoy horse riding, cycling, diving, fishing, surfing, skating and local parks. The bus stop offers ease of access to both Newquay, with its famous Fistral beach, boating lake, restaurants, zoo, aquarium and harbour, but also the city of Truro with the Hall for Cornwall, cathedral and extensive shopping. Crantock is also a short hop away with its beautiful beach, dunes and walks along the River Gannel. If the tide is right, hire a paddle board and paddle up the river. Within the next bay is Perranporth beach offering more miles of flat sand, good surf, St Pirans Oratory and the famous Watering Hole. Holywell Bay beach is a 5-10 minute stroll.

Being central to the county, the property is a great base for the further exploration of Cornwall. Within an hour you have access to the Eden Project, Flambards Theme Park, the National Maritime Museum, Pendennis Castle, Trelissick Gardens, Trebah Gardens, Minack Theatre, St Michaels Mount, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Tintagel Castle, The Tate St Ives, the Camel Trail and much more. Many of these host annual events such as the 3 day Little Orchard Festival and Ratter Fest, both held at Healey’s offering bands and a variety of ciders. Perranporth hosts both Tunes in the Dunes and Bands in the Sands seeing a variety of acts perform on the beach, Boardmasters is held at Watergate Bay and Fistral beach bringing big name artists and an international surf festival to Cornwall, and the Eden Sessions offer legendary performances by world renowned acts. Smaller local festivals include Leopallooza, the Great Estate, Tropical Pressure, St Endellion Classical Festival and Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival alongside many food and drink festivals based in local towns and villages. As a contrast, in the winter, events such as the Mousehole Lights, Winter Woods at Tehidy, Truro’s winter markets and lantern parade, the Angarrak lights and firework displays over the local beaches bring a different angle to the beauty of Cornwall.

    Our stay February, 2020

Had a very lovely and very comfortable stay here and can’t wait to go back again 🥰

    Our stay January, 2020

The house was dated in parts but very clean and had a very well equipped kitchen and nice bathroom. However all the beds were very uncomfortable with parts missing and springs coming through. The neighbours made us feel uncomfortable and the bins had been tipped over in the night, could have been the wind but likely due to the position and the weight of them.

We had a fantastic time at Shalom, great location, comfortable bungalow and dog friendly.. We will definitely be returning. Lovely Cream tea left for our arrival, really nice touch. 😊

Shalom was very clean, spacious and well equipped for our needs and we enjoyed our weeks stay. The property could benefit from a spruce up on the outside as on arrival it looked a little tired, inside was generally good however the dryer is located in an outside passageway which was dark and musty so we decided not to use it. The location is fabulous for beach access, walking the coastal path and getting around the area. The local pub was easily walkable and very friendly. Due to the location and cleanliness we would definately stay at Shalom again.

Nice welcome pack, however overall fixtures and fittings were all a bit tired.

Lovely place, home from home, everything you need. Close to the pub and beach, we thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay here with our two girls and two dogs. Lovely little welcome pack on arrival including scones, jam and clotted cream - very much appreciated!

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Shalom and it was perfect accommodation for us and our two small dogs! The bungalow is fully equipped with everything you could need and was very clean and comfortable. We had a lovely welcome pack on arrival along with everything for a cream tea which was a lovely touch. There is a local thatched inn nearby ( Treguth Inn) which was very friendly and welcoming for us and our dogs and the food was superb too! It’s a great location for exploring all the beautiful coastline of Cornwall. Unfortunately we left a couple things behind which were very kindly forwarded on to us free of charge by Lisa . Thank you for a great holiday! We will definitely be back!!

    Our stay March, 2020

A dog friendly cottage very close to a beach. Parking is a slight issue with the drive being on a slope and neighbouring cars can be parked fairly close to the drive making it a bit tricky to get on or off the drive. The main bedroom seemed to be coldest room in the bungalow despite having a radiator switched on. Would benefit from having a larger TV as being hard of hearing it was quite difficult to read sub titles on the small TV. Overall the bungalow fitting needs some minor repairs and possibly more attention to cleanliness around the back door. A floor mop should be included in the inventory as it would have made cleaning the kitchen floor easier after our dog had been in the wet garden. The local pub is well worth a visit.
