50 Degrees West - Facilities

50 Degrees West is an architect-designed house within a gated complex, and lies close to one of Cornwall’s most beautiful and iconic beaches. It has tremendous views over the dunes and out to sea, and offers stylish, contemporary and very spacious accommodation for couples and families on Cornwall’s dramatic north coast. Its upside-down living arrangement and floor-to-ceiling windows take advantage of the stunning views. 50 Degrees West has been fitted with some excellent features including superfast broadband/Wi-Fi surround sound with a receiver and ceiling speakers, a designer kitchen and spacious rooms to enhance your holiday comfort and fun. This detached property has all you need to enjoy this part of Cornwall, being in a really central location. From here it is easy to tour this county that brought us surfing, pasties and clotted cream!
The beach at Holywell has often featured as one of the locations for the TV series ‘Poldark’, and has also been used a film set for a James Bond film. There is much to see and do for all tastes, from great surfing on the beach to the family adventure park just a stroll up the road. There is a great bakery at Cubert, which is loved by locals and tourists, and is a must for an al fresco breakfast on the balcony overlooking the sea - get there early for the hot bread, scones and pasties.
Holywell is close to Newquay, but feels a million miles away from the busy town. With over ten beaches, a working harbour with fishing trips and sightseeing along the coast, together with surf schools, great bars, a zoo, a cinema and cafés and a tidal river full of sea birds, Newquay is a vibrant town and should not be missed as a destination whilst on holiday. There is a large, grassy common close by, and walking along the coast is outstanding, with superb views along the way. Holywell has its own golf course, and there are many world class courses nearby for the golfers.
Truro, the capital of Cornwall, has cobbled streets encircling its Gothic cathedral and makes for a great alternative day out. You can enjoy lunch there, stroll around the shops, or even take a river boat down the Fal river to Falmouth on the south coast for a lovely day out! Other activities to enjoy include horse riding, swimming, coasteering, go karting and surfing, which can all be found all nearby, but if this is all too much, the area has many spa hotels where you can while away the day being pampered. St Ives, Padstow, and Fowey are all easily reached from this perfectly positioned home from home. Beach 350 yards. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

50 Degrees West - Reviews

    Our stay December, 2019

We had a fabulous Christmas here with all the family. The house it self was great , we did have a few problems with the dishwasher not working for the 1st few days , the second oven was also not working until engineer came . ( was also not clean when we arrived) . The other problem we had was the alarm going off . We didn’t get the sound system working which was not a problem for us . Be aware there was no charger points for tooth brushes etc. Would say that you could probably do with more cups and serving dishes .

This was the most comfortable, well-decorated and well-equipped house in a beautiful location with a beautiful view. It was spacious and would have been great for a large group but was also lovely for the 2 of us as a treat. The lounge is upstairs to take advantage of the fantastic sea and golf course views, with the bedrooms downstairs. There was a welcome pack of fresh scones, jam & cream, wine and milk which was most welcome. A small hiccup was soon sorted - although we had no mobile reception so it had to be done by e-mail. Wonderful location for walking and we hope to return with family, next year.
