Quarrymans Cottage - Facilities

This historic quarryman’s cottage is set around a communal courtyard and lawned gardens that provide great spaces to relax or play. With a pub on the doorstep, where better to enjoy a pint of local ale and some home-cooked food?
The tiny village of Edmonton is set deep in Cornish countryside and is close to the traditional town of Wadebridge. This really is a secret gem in Cornwall’s crown. The town has many local shops including artisan bakers and traditional butchers alongside cafés and delis, and a vegan café. The town also boasts bike hire galore as this is the half way stage along the stunning Camel Trail. From Wadebridge, as you travel along the shoreline of the river, you head towards the coast where you will reach Padstow, home to Rick Stein’s culinary empire and Paul Ainsworth’s No6 restaurant, a Michelin starred eatery that’s well worth booking.
Heading inland it becomes more wooded and quiet as the trail heads towards Bodmin and its legendary Bodmin Jail which is a great experience for all. Edmonton is also close the north coast of Cornwall where you can reach towns such as Padstow, Port Isaac, home to TV’s Doc Martin and the Fisherman’s Friends, the subject of a 2018 film and who can still be heard singing on the harbour most Friday nights. Polzeath and Rock are favourites with the young royals, and here you can surf and sail, or stand up paddle board for a more tranquil way to see the estuary and the birds that call it home.
The north coast of Cornwall is littered with secret and quiet coves, little sandy bays that are sanctuaries for the seal population. The towns of Boscastle, Tintagel, Newquay, and Perranporth are all easily reached along the dramatic and stunning coast road so take your time and soak up the views around every bend. Golf is in abundance here as there are so many courses from St Enodoc, The Point at Polzeath, Trevose and Merlin. All are excellent links courses and offer views to remember. Horse riding, sailing, go karting, sea fishing and cycling, along with quality spas and excellent dining options, make this the destination to choose for that memorable Cornish holiday. Beach 9 miles. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 5 miles.

Quarrymans Cottage - Reviews

  • Peter - Bromley, Kent 30th December 2019

    Our stay December, 2019

We were very impressed with the facilities offered, the location and the adjacent Quarreyman Inn which provided good food and drink. Thoughtful touches were the Christmas tree and flowers. The only observations to improve winter use are: The cottage took two days to get warm and would benefit from having heavy curtains to cover the front and rear doors to stop the draughts and an additional portable heater. A couple more saucepans and a microwave would help when cooking a main meal. Andrew was very helpful and provided a replacement heater that had failed. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this holiday cottage

  • Johannah - Ipswich, Suffolk 14th August 2019

    Our stay August, 2019

Beautifully presented cottage in a quiet location, a short drive from more beautiful beaches than we had time to explore. We would happily return.
