Oaken Cottage - Facilities

This former fisherman’s cottage is set only yards from the harbour in the village of Mousehole, a popular destination in Cornwall. Adjoining another property, this traditional cottage offers comfortable and relaxing holiday accommodation. Mousehole has art galleries, cafes, shops and restaurants, as well as a sandy beach in the harbour with access onto the coastal paths and beyond. Within easy reach lie Penzance and Lands End, and of interest is the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno - hewn into the cliff - with open air performances overlooking sea. Sennen Cove is ideal for surfing or family days out. Shark and sea fishing, sailing, riding and tennis available locally.

Oaken Cottage - Reviews

  • Kate - Leeds 5th November 2019

    Our stay November, 2019

The cottage was ok, however on arrival which was after 8. We found the cottage was poorly stocked with basic essentials. I know some cottage require u bring everything of your own, but we have stopped at a few cottages which had toilet roll. After an 8 hour drive and no local shops open after 5 we had to drive 5 mile to shop. There was a bag of laundry left in the living room and mould in the top of the freezer. The cottage needed a good clean dust and cobwebs all over. Every cottage we have stayed at had a welcome pack with basic instructions local amenities and things to do especially for people who have never visited Cornwall before. There was nothing apart from how to use heating and tv. The cottage needs check its basic supplies and simple things. Also you need to update directions to the cottage as there is no rock shop and no bench outside the cottage. The parking is £3 a day with limited spaces if you dont get in you have to park just outside the village £9 a night or on the road side which is a good 15 min walk back to the cottage. It is in a lovely location a very beautiful place just a little care and attention is needed.

Mousehole is a lovely little fishing village with easy access to the South west coastal path. The cottage is right in the centre of the village which leads to parking problems, ie you cant. Its the same for everyone and with a bit of a walk you can find spaces. Local pubs and restaurants are great.

We loved our stay in Oaken Cottage. Very clean and comfortable. When we arrived there was scones, strawberry jam and clotted cream on the kitchen table which was a nice touch. Overall I would recommend Oaken Cottage for a stay in lovely Mousehole. From Dave and Sylvie

We loved Oaken Cottage! Very comfortable and cosy; a real home from home. The location in Mousehole was fantastic and allowed the children to enjoy little trips to buy themselves ice creams and look around the shops. We also enjoyed crabbing and playing on the beach.

We really enjoyed our week here. The cottage is lovely and Mousehole is a perfect little village. Once we realised that parking on the road in from Newlyn was a lot less stressful than the harbour car parks everything fell into place (you might have a 5-10 minute walk but it's a lot better than trying to reverse through tiny spaces on uneven pot holes!!). Just a really nice, relaxing, week away.

Lovely clean & very well presented cottage. Everything we needed for a family of five. Missed a tv in one bedroom but that’s all. Location in the village is great & a short walk from the pubs & cafes. Parking in Mousehole is problematic full stop as it’s a beautiful fishing village from another era. Expect to park in one of the public car parks. Highly recommended & we’d go again.
