Little Whiteleigh - Facilities

Little Whiteleigh is the ideal bolt hole for couples wanting to escape the hustle and bustle. This pretty little detached cottage, within the owner’s grounds, is set in six acres of peaceful Cornish countryside, well located for many different activities including; surfing, walking, cycling and sightseeing.
The cosy wood burner is perfect to curl up beside on a chilly evening, and there is also a sunny patio to the front of the cottage, where you can enjoy a glass of wine at the end of a busy day exploring.
There are many country and coastal walks close by, and plenty of dog friendly beaches. The cottage is just 6 miles from the golden sands of Widemouth Bay, popular with surfers, and 9 miles from Bude with its historic castle, vibrant town centre and vast array of good restaurants and bars, along with three more glorious sandy beaches and a stunning coastal path. The fishing villages of Tintagel, Rock and Padstow are close by, and the wild beauty of Dartmoor and Bodmin Moors are all within easy driving distance, as well as the famous Eden Project. Port Isaac, made famous in the TV series ’Doc Martin’, is worth a visit, as is Boscastle. Golf, horse riding, surfing, bowling, indoor ‘Splash’ pool, and mountain boarding are all on offer close by, and the internationally acclaimed annual Bude Jazz Festival is not to be missed. Shop, pub and resturant 2 miles.

    Our stay January, 2020

Just needed a short break with our Irish red setter dog and it was great, just what we all needed. The only thing was it rained all week end so could not get out to do a lot but place was warm and comfortable so we were happy.

Eve and daughter (owner) did everything asked and lots of little touches to make things homely.

The cottage was quite small. The bathroom has a carpet and no windows, the room was damp and did smell. I had difficulty getting around the bed as the room was small. Lots of flies in the cottage if the door was left open. Excellent WiFi Very quiet area Wonderful owners, very friendly

Little Whiteleigh was exactly what we were hoping for; peace and quiet in a nice location, with only a short drive to the beach. We had a lovely welcome from the owners and our dog made himself at home! The garden was safe and secure and the resident dogs were very friendly! We will definitely be returning as the cottage suits us perfectly for a short break.

The cottage is small and has a cosy feel and there is no doubt that the hosts are friendly and helpful but it could do with some freshening up, and a better shower. The bedroom is a little cramped and we couldn’t get any more than a couple of channels on the TV. To be fair we didn’t raise this with Eve so there may be a solution but it was saying ‘poor digital signal ‘ or something to that effect. There are some games and books available, and I think there was a couple of dvds but we did end up buying our own on a rainy day. The local shop is ok but may run out of things like salad in good weather (which it did on our visit). There is a Morrisons in Bude that is better for getting week’s shop in (also fuel). Owners are very dog friendly and have dogs themselves who come to the fence to greet your fur baby. The owners have bird feeders in their garden, which can be seen through the cottage kitchen window, and this is quite lovely in the mornings to watch the different birds feeding; including a woodpecker on our visit. If you are not too bothered about luxury and are happy with basic accommodation then would recommend Little Whiteleigh to you, purely because it does need some tlc and a bit more power to the shower, plus the cramped bedroom. The plus side is the friendliness of the owners, and their dogs, who really do want you to enjoy your stay.

I loved my stay here, garden dog friendly, beach for walking dogs 7 miles away. Honestly could move in and be quite happy.

We loved our little holiday at Little Whiteleigh. It was our first time taking our dog away on holiday and it was to such a lovely place. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the area is beautiful. There’s a nice secure garden for the dog to play in and it has lovely views. The cottage has everything you need including a wood burner for those colder nights. The local area has plenty of places to take the dog for a walk and plenty of beaches where dogs are allowed. You just need a car to get there. I would definitely recommend Little Whiteleigh if you want a quiet relaxing holiday.

This is a very comfortable cottage to stay in. It is cosy and is easily kept warm with the wood burner which comes with plenty of logs, kindling and fire lighters. It’s a little shabby and could do with some updating but it’s very well equipped. The garden is fantastic, we thought we would just have access to the small gravelled area but actually were allowed to use the whole of the garden attached to the cottage. This area is totally secure and dog friendly so you can really relax and know your dog is safe. Eve and Louise are very friendly and helpful and the area is a great base for exploring all the local towns and beaches. We would come back again.

We had a wonderful days staying at Little Whiteleigh. We were made very welcome including our dog. The garden is very dog friendly and our dog settled in very quickly. Great location for visiting the surrounding areas and a nice quiet retreat on returning after very busy days. The woodturning stove makes the place very cosy and homely. We certainly would return again in visiting this part of Cornwall again.
