Little Dinnicombe Cottage - Facilities

This delightful, semi-detached holiday cottage sits beside the owners’ home in a pretty rural location in north Cornwall, on a quiet single-track country lane with only one other near neighbour. The cottage is surrounded by fields and beautiful Cornish countryside and yet only 5-minutes’ drive from the wide sandy beach of Widemouth Bay between Bude and Boscastle. Just 2½ miles from the pretty village of Week St Mary where you will find a post office/village store to buy all your day to day essentials. There is also a village church, and a pub which serves meals and bar food. In the quiet village of Jacobstow you will find the village church, and just a mile further on is Wainhouse Corner, where there is a post office/store, petrol station, shop, a traditional country pub and restaurant.
The North Cornish Coast offers visitors a variety of things to see and do. As well as the beautiful countryside to explore, there is the coast with an abundance of sandy beaches, coves and amazing cliff walks. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with its large wide sandy beach, sand dunes and cliff walks. Widemouth Bay south beach is a ’dog friendly’ beach all year, and the garden area at the cottage is fenced and enclosed.
The popular seaside resort of Bude is just a 15-minute drive from the cottage where you will find fine sandy beaches, a sea pool, interesting shops, numerous pubs and restaurants, and the Bude Canal, with one of the few remaining sea locks in the country. Water sports of all descriptions are available including canoeing, kayaking, surfing, windsurfing, diving and snorkelling to name a few. Just a short drive from the cottage you will find Crackington Haven, Cornwall’s highest coastal point, with its spectacular beach and cliff walks.
The picturesque fishing villages of Tintagel, Rock and Padstow are close by, and the wild beauty of Bodmin Moor’s windswept and awe-inspiring granite moorland, overlooked by the summit of Brown Willy,, and Roughtor, with Bronze Age remains including stone circles and menhirs, are all within easy driving distance. The unspoilt fishing village of Port Isaac, made famous as the filming location for TVs ’Poldark’ and ’Doc Martin’ series is nearby, as is Boscastle. The Hartland Peninsula and Clovelly, the famous north Devon coastal village with its cobbled streets, flower-strewn cottages and 14th-century harbour, are also just a short drive away. There is boating and boat trips, fishing and deep-sea fishing, horse riding and pony trekking, mountain biking, cycling and tennis, and of course, walking in the beautiful Cornish countryside or along the coastal path. Golf courses can be found at Bude, Holsworthy and Launceston. The great houses and gardens at Lanhydrock and Pencarrow, together with the Eden Project, are all just an easy drive away. Beach 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Little Dinnicombe Cottage - Reviews

  • Rose - Birdham 4th February 2020

    Our stay January, 2020

The cottage is beautifully and tastefully decorated. It is very warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean. The owners live in the adjoining house and are very hospitable. They had thought of everything that might possibly be needed during a holiday even down to a sewing kit and a bag of dog treats. There are villages stores nearby which are well-stocked. Would highly recommend this cottage.

For us and our wishlist for the perfect holiday, everything was 10 out of 10 for Little Dinnicombe Cottage. In the middle of nowhere, blissfully quiet, the cottage is cosy, comfy, beautifully decorated and very well equipped. The courtyard garden is ideal for dogs, even our small Jack Russell who investigated every nook and cranny was 100% safe. The kitchen has everything you could wish for, including cleaning materials and cloths. Under the stairs there is a plethora of other useful items, including dog bowls. The bed is very comfortable and there is a very good hairdryer, if needed. All the decorative items are very tasteful, with emphasis on providing that 'cottage' feel. Whilst attached to the cottage owner's home, we did not hear anything from next door. The local cockerel was very civilised too, not waking until 7:30am! It took less than 10 mins to drive to Widemouth Bay, the south part being dog friendly. We chose to do the 'big shop' in Bude, where there is a massive Morrisons and a Lidl, either side of a roundabout, just off the A39. We had a superb week and would not hesitate to return to Little Dinnicombe Cottage.

A really lovely cottage, friendly hosts, clean, comfy and private. Not too far from beaches, towns and places of interest although a few close calls on the many narrow lanes!

A real find, the owners couldn't be more friendly and helpful, the cottage was well equipped, spotlessly clean and with a small courtyard type garden that was totally secure for our 2 dogs. we hope to return in the near future

Little Dinnicombe Cottage is perfect size for a couple. Well equipped and extremely quiet. Nice little enclosed garden and on a quiet safe road for walking your dogs. The owners are very pleasant and left us some fresh eggs and milk as a welcome. You will need a car as Bude is 8 miles away but the coast is assessable if you are fit and well. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. Paul and June (Buddy and Daisy too)

This cottage is absolutely lovely. It's really clean and has everything we needed for our stay in Cornwall. The location is quite remote which is fine providing you're prepared to drive for shopping / pubs etc. The local town Bude is really nice and had everything you need. There is a large Morrisons and Lidl. The owners live next door and are very friendly hand helpful should you need help with anything.
