Beachside - Facilities

Being only a 50-yard stroll to the beautiful, sandy beach at Porth, on a private road, Beachside is all that it promises to be - a detached, beachside holiday home on one of Cornwall’s best family beaches.
The stone-built cottage is set back from a private road, with its own parking space a short walk to the front door through lovely gardens. A master bedroom, a twin bedroom, and a double bedroom, allow the cottage to easily sleep 6 people, with a large living room and a kitchen/dining room. The cottage has Sky TV and fast internet, as well as a washing machine, dishwasher and microwave making it comfortable to live in.
You will be spoilt for things to do each day, from cliff walks along the coastal path, to rock pooling for crabs and fishing in the river that flows into the sea along one side of the beach. The surf is often up, with the shallow waters and lifeguards on duty making it great for all the family to body board and play in the waves.
Walks from here are fantastic, and at low-tide you can make your way between Porth Island and the headland through to Watergate Bay, or stroll atop the cliff path to watch the sunset from the end of the Island – all just a short walk from the cottage.
A local tearoom is just yards from Beachside’s front door - the perfect spot to start the day with a proper Cornish coffee or breakfast before you head out for the day. The very family friendly beach, has its own pub serving good food, and is found right on the sand, with a terrace that overlooks the beach - a perfect spot to enjoy the evening sun with a drink whilst the kids play nearby. Or you can join in the famous pub quiz!
Lusty Glaze is a private beach next door to Porth, accessed via a 5-minute walk over the cliffs, where you can take surf lessons or even go on a jet ski safari. Porth is a 20-minute walk or 5-minute drive from Newquay, which sits to the west, with its surf culture, shopping, golf club, night-life, zoo, cafés and restaurants. Newquay’s bustling harbour, with its resident seals, is a great place to book a sea fishing trip on one of the day boats that will take you to catch mackerel, deep sea fish and even sharks. Who knows, you may even catch the evening supper for the barbecue back at Beachside.
Watergate Bay lies 5 minutes’ drive to the east, with peeling, world class waves, a favourite with more experienced surfers and home to beach cafés, surf schools and a kite surfing centre. Another beach at Whipsiderry, sitting between Porth and Watergate Bay, is a dog friendly beach all year round, accessible by its own steps from the cliff top. A walk to the end of Porth Island is also a perfect place for dogs to run off the lead, all just minutes away from Beachside.
Padstow is a 25-minute drive away, with its high quality foodie haunts, including Rick Stein’s various restaurants. It is also the start of an off road cycle or walking trail that hugs the shore of the Camel Estuary from Wadebridge - a must if even for the fish and chips on the quayside. Truro, Eden, St Ives and Fowey are also easily reached from this part of Cornwall and a must for visitors who want to experience the diversity of the Duchy. Beach 50 yards. Shop ½ mile, pub 150 yards, restaurant 25 yards.

    Our stay October, 2019

We had a lovely time. The dog had to stay in kitchen as isn’t allowed upstairs (lounge is upstairs) The house is clean and tidy Everything we needed was there Warm, tidy, clean. Could benefit blinds in bathroom for privacy at night can’t think of anything else to improve as was a nice place. The contact was helpful and their relatives tearoom at bottom of the drive where lovely family very warm and friendly. Lovely food. The beach was great for the dog we all had a great time.

Beachside is a beautiful cottage right next to the beach in a really lovely area. We really enjoyed staying there. The only negative comment I need to make is that it is advertised as a dog friendly place, however on arrival on the welcome sheet you are requested to keep your dog downstairs and out of the bedrooms.... That only leaves the dog to be allowed in the hall and the kitchen as even the living room is upstairs. I felt that made it not as dog friendly as it could have been

    Our stay August, 2019

The location is perfect for a holiday with young children. The beach is extremely close with sheltered shallow water so feels safe for little ones and it's a nice 20 minute stroll into Newquay along the cliff tops with fantastic views to get to the amenities etc. There is a lot for children in Newquay and great day trips in the local area. We had a great break.

Perfect location for the beach, but that's about it. Not even a chip shop in near vicinity, have to travel into either Newquay or Mawgan Porth! No garden gate to keep dogs or small children in.

Great location for visiting cornwall if you have a car.Locally, it was the quietest area around. No shops ,and only one pub within walking distance. And of course no dogs allowed on the beach between 9am and 7pm.
