Valley Lodge 47 - Reviews

    Our stay September, 2019

My wife and I had to ask for the wifi code, no welcome pack? The wifi was the worst we have ever experienced, to say we only had 2 devices logged into it. The television channels kept skipping and missing channels. The 2 x sofa beds in the upstairs lounge were very smelly of dog, to get through our stay, we covered them with spare bedroom quilts. On site pub food terrible, steak and ale pie was shop bought and they couldn't even cook that correctly, over priced for pie, chips and peas. My wife had fish and chips dry and terrible. we will never ever travel to that part of the country again. We have stayed in other cottages around UK, last year being Scotland beautiful, but this holiday was not. A big plus to the jacuzzi that was really good.

Thought the lodge itself was fantastic , very comfy and loads of room , all you need in the lodge you could think of , seen some reviews moaning about needing an update but I thought it was fine New carpets and new outside table and chairs upstairs the downstairs table outside could do with replacing but other than that very pleased plus hot tub was up and running on arrival Would definitely recommend The park itself is like a centre parks more than a haven site which suited us as we had a dog Kids lined the pools which are small but still good fun and the games room could do with updating The restaurant pub is fantastic with good food and great entertainment The only down side is it isn’t open until 5pm Monday to Friday which leaves you with out a place or focal point in the day but it’s open at weekends Would recommend

Lovely lodge, lovely location! Very clean and tidy. Only downside was the lack of a washing machine, which for a large family was a bit of a drawback.

For a young family who needed a place that wouldn't show the general mishaps of boisterous children this might be for you, however as a group of adults we were disappointed in the very careworn and damaged furniture and the general lack of maintenance given to this property. The upper deck badly needed cleaning and re-vanishing and having broken breeze blocks and a rusted old broom left out and so many cobwebs it looked as if it had been furred - needless to say it wasn't the relaxed environment the photo of the lodge depicted. Internally the bedroom widows were locked so they could not be opened - near unbearable in 30 degree heat. Haribo and crunchie wrappers stuffed down the side of the beds, a leaking sink and hot water only if you boosted the heater day and night. The living room windows were so streaked you had o open the door to see through clearly. Only three towels for the week felt inadequate when a feature was a hot tub but when we tried to arrange for clean towels with housekeeping a mobile message greeted us stating they were on holiday so no luck there, Mobile phone reception being so poor we couldn't even contact maintenance. The TV did not have BBC channels, but DVDs and games were available. There was a cream tea set out on arrival which was nice but no cleaning products provided apart from dish washer tablets. The Lodge is on a very hilly site and not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or very elderly. This has the potential to be lovely with a deep clean and repairs - but for us it was not to the standard we have come to expect and will not return to this site

I pressed the poor location and actually that was excellent. Lovely and quiet, views down the valley, the sound of a stream and birds. Lovely lodge in a quiet location. Perfect for our family break with adult children. Close to Dartmoor, Plymouth, Mt Edgecombe. Bodmin, Eden. All good!

    Our stay June, 2019

Our usual choice of holiday accommodation is a remote cottage in the heart of Wales or some remote corner of England (hot tub and open fire essential) but this year we chose to try a leisure park. The children enjoyed the use of the pool and the food at the on site pub was very good. Valley lodge 47 however left much to be desired. The hot tub cover was broken and the water was fouled with a brown oily residue that clung to the sides of the tub, a complaint to the management rectified the surface matter but the bottom remained dirty and my children were evermore convinced that the tub was a thing to be avoided at all costs. The furniture was tired with veneer peeling off of most surfaces. A smell of damp pervaded the master bedroom. The oven controls have had their markings removed meaning you did not know if you had the grill or the oven on and you did not know what temperature the oven was set at. The external timber-work looks tired and requires preservation. The toilet seat was peeling. Cosmetic repairs in the bathroom were shoddy with excessive amounts of silicon used to partially fill large gaps between tiles. Curtain hooks were loose in the wall or missing entirely One of the beds lacked a headboard, it appears to have been ripped off at some point. The wifi was slow and intermittent. Many of these are minor points but the overall impression was that the property felt uncared for and unloved. A means to make money whilst minimising overheads to the detriment of the paying guest. As a result, it was with joy and elation that we packed our belongings and cut our holiday short by two days.
