Trefusia - Facilities

This beautiful Grade II listed Cornish cottage, full of charm and character, is set in the pretty village of Bolingey, just a 10-minute walk from the coastal town of Perranporth and its 3-mile golden beach. Trefusia is perfect for couples or families looking to get away from it all; simply enjoy the lovely, tranquil walled gardens and sun terrace, or explore the stunning beach and spectacular delights of the north Cornish coastline. The village pub, just a short stroll away, is a locals’ and visitors’ favourite and serves local ales and home cooked food. The coastline along this stretch of North Cornwall is amongst the most dramatic you will find, from the wide surfing beaches to beautiful clifftop paths, which are part of the Cornish Coastal Path passing old Cornish engine houses and stunning coves and villages. The town of Perranporth, with its beach-based pub with live music and events, surf schools and hire shops, is one of the best around and has it all for a quintessential family holiday. The quaint coastal town of St Agnes is also close by with local shops and restaurants aplenty. Nearby Truro, the county capital, is a pretty Georgian market town with cinemas, theatres and excellent shopping. There are many places to visit, including the town of St Ives and Newquay on the north coast. The contrasting south coast is also easily reached and places to visit include the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and many beautiful Cornish gardens that are in bloom in the spring. Golf courses, horse riding, bike hire and water sports are all available nearby making Trefusia a truly great place to spend some family time. Beach 1 mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 400 yards.

Lovely cottage with excellent facilities. It was nice to have a pantry with essentials on arrival. A great base for visiting the surrounding area, for example St Ives, Falmouth, Boscastle. There is a lovely local pub serving food a short walk away and Perranporth is also very close and walkable.

We recently stayed in this charming cottage last week and we fell truly in love with it. The location is fantastic for the local pub (The Bolingey Inn) which serves superb food at reasonable prices. The beach and central Perranporth is literally 10/15mins down the road, mostly on the flat and paved. The highlight is most definitely the cottage, so cozy and warm and oozes character, comes complete with all modern amenities and facilities - the owners have literally thought of everything. Our 2 little dogs loved exploring the garden (and often didn’t want to come back in the cottage when called) which is split on multi levels and filled with shrubs, wild flowers and trees. Our son (9yrs) was never bored and was fascinated to have an ‘old fashioned’ open fire most evenings. Movie nights galore!! We really have the holiday blue and want to return ASAP

We are seasoned ‘cottage goers’ so we know normally what is to be expected. Other guests’ reviews have so far always been the motivating factor when choosing which cottage, we stay in. In this case its difficult to understand why the previous reviews were so far apart from what we experienced. I must add we are not fussy people but we expect a certain level of cleanliness. Briefly the carpets were dirty, sticky and full of marks. The table was so dirty and sticky that even after cleaning we had to go out and purchased a table cloth. The oven was dirty and the BBQ had not been cleaned out. The cottage requires lots of TLC in general. The outside decking area has an open edge drop off of around 1 metre onto concrete, should anyone fall/slip/trip the consequences could be serious. One had to take great care when taking a shower as the mat supplied moved very easy underfoot and the bath was slippery if the mat was not used. Oh, the bath had patches of the top coating missing. All in all, this place now requires a deep clean. The bathroom cupboards both had screws and dirt (not sure from where) just laying on the floor!! The open fire was full of ash, again not cleaned out between guests. It is in a nice position and the garden was nice to sit in of an evening. The toilet was spotless. If you’ve got 2 dogs its ok because you’re not under any stress to keep the carpets clean. The porch area was nice to have and washer was useful. We left the cottage cleaner than we found it but refuse to clean other people’s mess from the BBQ, oven & cupboards etc. We also left the dead insects on the walls in their webs. I must stress that the owner was great in communication and must be unaware of these facts.
