The Sunday School - Facilities

Perfectly situated to enjoy the benefits of Cornwall and sitting quietly behind the converted chapel, overlooking the Cornish countryside, this converted Sunday School provides an ideal holiday base from which to explore the county. Cycling and walking on the official ’Clay Trails’ within the area are a must, along which you can explore the area and even reach the world famous Eden Project. St Austell, with its leisure centre, is approximately 6 miles, as is the village of Charlestown, home to ’tall ships’ and a shipwreck heritage museum that houses artefacts from the Titanic. To the north of the property, the fishing village of Padstow, with its numerous restaurants, is easily accessible. Also available is bike hire, fishing trips and diving. Newquay, with its excellent surfing beaches, is approximately 12 miles away. On the south coast, the ancient fishing port of Fowey is within 10 miles and was home to Daphne Du Maurier. Fowey has many events throughout the year, such as the Du Maurier festival and the Fowey Royal Regatta. It is also home to many galleries, pubs, restaurants and shops. Sea fishing, sailing and diving trips are available locally. Bodmin Moor is also close by and provides an excellent location for horse riding, walking and mountain biking. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Lanhydrock House, Restormel Castle and Crealy Adventure Park are all within an easy drive. Beach 6 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

The Sunday School - Reviews

  • Pauline - Brighouse 9th February 2020

    Our stay February, 2020

A truly lovely place, so relaxing and tranquil. The owners are so friendly, but unobtrusive. Sharon was one of the most welcoming people I've ever met and provided us with so many little extras, a bottle of wine, butter, scones, cream and jam, bacon, sausages, duck eggs and more. if you're looking for a thoroughly relaxing break in a very convenient position this is it. Sharon has 4 ducks that lay the richest eggs and in the next door field are 2 ponies, whom we loved to feed with carrots and apples. The hot tub was a delight. We will be going again.

Fantastic cottage with everything you need for a relaxing, comfortable and peaceful holiday. Great welcome gifts which were very much appreciated and a little something for the dog too. Ideal location to get away from everything, yet only 20 minute drive to wonderful beaches, woodland walks, plus a short walk from the door to a nature reserve. Lazing in the hot tub listening to bird song was heavenly. Sharon was a very friendly host who left us to it after an initial welcome but was available if required. It's no surprise that the Sunday School is always booked up as it is fabulous. We look forward to returning.

A fantastic little cottage, comfortable and cosy. Quiet days and nights with the sounds of the local animals was very pleasant and relaxing. The Sunday school had everything we needed including a few welcome treats that were much appreciated! Great little retreat for your pooch too! The owner is so lovely and accommodating!

We booked the Sunday school having never been to Cornwall before. The location is excellent, the cottage is fantastic, a real home away from home. Nothing was too much trouble for Sharon, the little extras are a really nice touch including fresh bacon, sausage and eggs. As well as the hot water bottles and the blankets to snuggle into whilst watching tv. It’s an amazing place to stay and we can’t wait to book again!

First visit for us and it absolutely lovely. Sharon and Brian are great hosts and nothing was too much trouble. Good location to get to everywhere and rural enough to get away from everything. Accomdation is very well maintained and very well equipped, I would recommend.

Comfortable cottage all on one floor, beds are comfy, lovely extras and tv big enough to enjoy nights in with use of a hot tub. Ideal location to access lots of different places, Wadebridge, Padstow and Newquay all very close. Dog friendly, our goldie, Lucy loved her own hamper provided by the owners. • Hayley - Pontypridd 17th March 2020

    Our stay March, 2020

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Sunday School. The number of lovely things that Sharon left for us to start our holiday was second to none. Scones, jam and cream. Butter, milk, bread rolls, bacon, sausages. Wine, chocolates and biscuits. Fruit..... We've never known such a welcome pack in all the years we have been renting holiday cottages. The cottage was also fully equipped with everything required for a perfect stay. there wasn't one thing that we needed and that we couldn't find. On our first evening the bathroom towel heater didn't warm up, I text Sharon and her lovely husband Brian was around within 10 minutes, and sorted the problem out straight away (stuck valve pin). The next day we had problems with our car and had to leave it in a garage, Sharon came and picked us up and dropped us back off the next day to pick up our repaired car. This is going above and beyond expectations for a host. The hot tub was such a lovely bonus, and even though it rained a few nights we still used it (even hot tub towels and bathrobes were supplied). Summery - A beautiful cottage, in a lovely area, with fantastic owners. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Sharon and Brian for a lovely week.

  • Paula - Great Harwood 20th August 2020

A lovely cottage with the added extra of a hot tub. Lovely welcome pack for us and one for Bobby our dog. A great central location, very comfortable home from home and very relaxing and reassuring even during these worrying times.

  • Rachael 27th July 2020

    Our stay July, 2020

From the moment we arrived we didn’t want to leave! Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Slept all night, every night, the bed was so comfy! A ridiculously generous welcome pack with doggy treats included! Kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. The hot tub was perfect to relax in the evening and Sharon was just lovely and friendly. Stunning walks across Goss Moor with ponies and cattle sharing the lane! Will book again and look forward to a guaranteed relaxing stay. xx
