The Mill House - Reviews

Lovely cottage with gorgeous country views. Pretty much everything you need at your disposal. Very helpful, accessible and friendly owners. Only downside... if you have a pet please be warned that the neighbouring farm is not gated off and you are met with very unwelcome response if your dog happens to wander! Apart from that highly recommended. 😁

This was our first cottage-holiday experience. In overall a good place. We stayed there for 3 nights during New Year's Eve and have a good time, 2 families 8 of us. The place was clean and amnesties great, specifically kitchen had all one need (my wife loved it). Note here: I rated cleanliness low, as the bed-sheets were not clean upon our arrival. To owner's credit, they changed them as soon as we contacted them the next day. Still we had a bad first night. The games room was a hit, not just with kids, but with adults too. Place is in the middle of nowhere, but this is what we where looking for our holiday break. I recommend the place.

Really enjoyed staying in this cottage. Many beautiful villages and beaches are within easy reach and Bodmin is only about 6 miles away offering everything you need. The cottage is really well equipped and we enjoyed the games room.

Positives Large kitchen Well equipped kitchen Comfy beds Games room kept my kids entertained Toiletries were a nice touch Negatives Parking is not idea for large cars considering the cottage is for 8 people Living room sofas were not comfy and well used Kitchen table was sticky no matter how many times I cleaned it There was no empty kitchen cupboard to put food in Bins outside were full as bin day is Fridays (I understand that this cannot be changed but maybe need to look at an alternative solution) Flies and wasps hanging around bins so could not open downstairs bedroom window The bath had lots dead flies in on arrival - if this had been cleaned a few hours before we arrived this should not be the case No storage in the double bedrooms for clothes Upstairs twin bedroom cupboard doors bang on the beds when opening and only hanging rail no shelving for clothes Upstairs bathroom toilet roll holder was hanging off Shower tray upstairs filled with water to about 1cm from the top while having a shower The pictures are out of date for this cottage and need to give a true reflection of the cottage. The owners need to look at repairs and improvements if they want state that this cottage is award winning.

Lovely cottages. We rented out both cottages for 4 families. We had a fantastic time. Super location between the north and south coasts. The games room was a real hit with the kids. Very quiet and peaceful. Would definitely recommend, especially for a large group.

Location and games room are the bonuses of this property. Having neighbours sharing parking is a downside. The property could do with a deep clean and the owner having a look at doing basic repairs.

What a disappointment this holiday was for us. After seeing the pics and reading things like award winning/five star and luxury we decided to go over budget and book this holiday home on the basis you can never trust the English weather. When we arrived the first thing that hit me was the musty slightly damp smell. The living room is not for for 8 people. The sofas are in an awful condition not like the pics at all and have been covered with a faux fur cover which was also dirty. The carpet was also in need of a good clean. The kitchen was equally disappointing dirty cupboards fronts and the table was sticky with crumbs left no matter how many times i went over it I couldn't get rid of the stickiness. The rooms were not configured as per the description and it was one double and a twin on the ground floor and another double and twin on the first. The downstairs double had hardly any storage space. The one saving grace was I couldn't fault the covers or bed they were clean and comfy. The ensuite however was not. It was in need of a good deep clean and the shower screen was smeary. Upstairs was similar. The downstairs bedroom though was the real sore point for me. My young son was staying in there and on the 2nd night i climbed in to bed to settle him and the bottom of the bed was damp. I then clocked a dehumidifier in the room which on closer inspection was full. I immediately moved my son to our room, stripped the bed, emptied the dehumidifier and messaged the owner. She came to check it the next day and advised it was dry which I had to agree it was but was changing the dehumidifier every 8-10 hours. She suggested it got wet as I had left the window open which was certainly not the case as the bins for both properties were outside his room and had not been emptied from the previous stay so the flies were swarming. The parking was also not ideally as on this week 3 of the 4 of us across the 2 properties had large cars so it was a squeeze. The games room was ok but like everything else needed a deep clean. It is such a shame as the house does have amazing potentially and I don't doubt that 5 years ago it could have been award winning but the owners seem to have rested on their laurels and not invested any money or time to this property. If nothing else a deep clean would make the world of difference.
