Seascape - Reviews

    Our stay December, 2019

This property is ultra modern and has stunning bedrooms and ensuites. Sadly the second hand furniture that has been put in to rush finishing it lets is down completely. The corner sofa in the lounge stinks of cigarette smoke as do the drawers in the master bedroom, these all need to be removed and replaced. You cannot control the heating yourself this is controlled by the owner away from the property - the master bedroom was stuck at 23 degrees we did try and contact the cleaning company who said that the owner would lower the temp but it did not happen, so it was very stuffy and hard to sleep. Although beautiful the house is missing vital items and needs finishing before being rented as a holiday home. There are no dressing tables or mirrors in any of the bedrooms which makes it impossible to dry your hair without seeing what you are doing - there are plenty of plugs but each bedroom requires a dressing table and mirror. The lounge could do with a couple of cosy lamps, perhaps some ornaments etc as it is very sparse. Some of the bedrooms have mismatching second hand bedside tables which do not go with the modern property. The views over Fowey are amazing but please be aware that the climb back up the hill is tough going and would be difficult for children or the unfit. You cannot walk to a beach and the nearest sandy beach we found to walk the dog was a 30 minute drive away. There is only one decent pub to eat in Polruan 'The Lugger Inn' whose food is lovely so you do need to drive anywhere else. The games room was a big hit with our teenagers who loves the LED coloured lighting and the pool table. The kitchen was well equipped and we had everything we needed to cook xmas dinner.

    Our stay December, 2019

The property is modern spacious and suited well our party of 9. However seen that it was advertised as “Luxury Property “ we all thought that the furnishings and equipment was far from Luxury. (I personally have been to Cornwall many times in others 5 stars property). All the rooms are furnished with unmatched second hand forniture kept to the minimum essential especially the master bedroom 2 old chest drawers and a small wardrobe are not enough. Towel rails and not vertical radiators are needed especially because the property is equipped with a sauna. All bedrooms should been equipped with TV. The corner sofa on the leaving room is clearly second hand with cigarette burning marks and a bad smell. No seating in the Cinema room. Old and unsteady pool table who made almost impossible to play. No way to listen to some music a part from in the cinema room. Kitchen again equipped to the minimum. And much more. Instructions on how to adjust the heating in the rooms to the guests liking is missing. Unfortunately the weather was not good at all during our staying and all these could have made the difference to our experience. Our suggestion to the owner is to get some advice from professionals in order to make this stunning property a truly Luxury Holiday Accommodation.

    Our stay November, 2019

This is a beautiful house in an enviable location which is rated as 5 star but so very poorly equipped and has some furniture issues. The main sofa absolutely stinks of old cigarette smoke as does a chest of drawers in the master bedroom - unforgivable. There was no cafetiere or coffee machine. It is a house for 10 yet only had a one-cup teapot - the owner tells me a larger pot has now been bought. Only 2 medium sized pans and 3 small ones are not enough for 10 people. The cooking utensils are so cheap they bend on using making them near useless. Only one teatowel was provided (the owner did send 2 more on complaining). No oven glove. An iron but no ironing board. The fridge smelt fishy which is something numerous previous guests have also mentioned in the visitors' book. I'm afraid I would not be able to recommend this house at this price without guaranteed improved equipment and a change of sofa.

    Our stay October, 2019

It's lovely modern house but compared to other holiday cottages we have seen and been to with a similar 5 star rating, this one was a little disappointing. The basics such as bath mats, hand towels and even oven gloves were missing. The coffee machine from the photo was not there and although there was some tea and coffee in the cupboard, this was all used and part packs and one of the tins of coffee only had a bit of solid coffee in the bottom that could not be removed. There was supposed to be a welcome pack, but this turned out to be only a cream tea (a pack of scones, a pot of clotted cream and a jar of jam) and as this hadn't been left ready for us the cleaner brought it round in the evening and as by way of an apology gave us an extra pack of scones - however 3 adults didn't really need 16 scones for a weekend. We thought that a welcome pack should really have had local produce, perhaps bacon, sausages, eggs, bread & milk plus fresh packs of tea and coffee and even fruit juice. The house wasn't clean, the main stairs were dusty on either side, the lampshades in the kitchen were all dusty, there was a strange smell of stale cleaning solution inside the fridge/freezer. The chest of drawers in the master bedroom smelled of stale smoke, so much so that we couldn't put our clean clothes in them.

    Our stay September, 2019

Lovely location, beautiful views of the harbour, garden not fully enclosed at the bottom especially if you have small dogs. House could do with a few more home touches, mirrors in the bathrooms, a few more pictures on walls etc. The cinema room could be made better by connecting up the PS3 & wii and by moving the pool table that sits right in front of the TV. Aside from the few niggles a lovely house in an amazing location (this is the seller)
