Little Tregarthen - Facilities

Little Tregarthen is a gem of a find in a quiet street in lovely Padstow, but only a short stroll to the bustling working harbour. Adjoining the owner’s home, but with a private decked area and off road parking, this house is finished to a very good standard indeed. The owners have left nothing to chance when thinking about style, comfort and quality even down to towelling robes.
Padstow, a jewel of a town on the north Cornwall coast, is in a central location in Cornwall, and has an abundance of great cafés, restaurants, local shops and stunning scenery. The National Lobster Hatchery Centre is right on the quay in Padstow and a fascinating insight into the conservation work they do for the sea life of the area.
There are also several vineyards close by, including the Camel Valley, with world class award-winning wines and Trevibyan Vineyard both worth a visit. Padstow has a rich heritage of fishing, and the working harbour is a great focal point with all narrow lanes leading to it. Sit and enjoy a pasty or local ice cream as the boats bob around. The town sits at the mouth of the Camel Estuary with views across to Rock, beautiful Daymer Bay and the famous Doom Bar, which a local beer is named after. You can catch a passenger ferry across the estuary to the village of Rock and walk across the golden sands. Walk along the Coastal Path to Polzeath, a small village with a great surfing beach. You’ll pass by the famous church at St Enedoc, which is the final resting place of Sir John Betjeman, the Poet Laureate.
The celebrity chef Rick Stein has many eateries in the town from a cookery school to fish and chip shop, a must for great fish and chips by the sea. Padstow has many cycle hire opportunities due to it being at the start of the Camel Trail, an 18-mile, off road, flat, multi-use trail that hugs the edge of the estuary into Wadebridge, a pretty market town, and before eventually reaching Bodmin inland. If its beaches you want, then there are many within a stroll from Little Tregarthen. Many more are just a short drive away, such as Constantine with its superb golf course, Treyarnon, Harlyn and Trevone, all stunning expanses of golden sand for that great day out by the sea. There is golf, horse riding, sailing, kayaking, sea fishing and surfing all available on your doorstep, making this the perfect spot to enjoy this stunning part of Cornwall. Beach 1 mile. Shop 400 yards, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

I have no hesitation in recommending Little Tregarthen. Stayed here over Christmas 2019 with my wife and two dogs and had the most memorable time. The apartment is a 10 minute walk to Padstow and around 10 minutes drive to the nearest beach (all of which are beautiful and ideal for walking dogs). Traffic was light on our drive down from Cheshire and we arrived sooner than expected however this was no issue to the owners and we were unpacked nice and early to begin our holiday. Although we’d seen photos of the apartment they did not do it justice - it really is beautiful and extremely comfortable. We were given a welcome pack that included home-made scones, clotted cream, various jams, chocolates, fruit, tea, coffee and milk. Toiletries, dressing gown and slippers were also left all of which was gratefully received but unexpected. I have to mention the eye for detail - the kitchen was extremely well appointed and had every utensil you could think of (and more you couldn’t) - we were cooking Christmas dinner here and found it as easy as doing it at home. The owners are very friendly and were happy for us to knock on their door (even when I forgot an ingredient for Christmas dinner which they were happy to help with) for any assistance needed. In short, superb accommodation and sad it’s now all over. Nick, Clare, Teddy and Tula.

Just arrived home from a fantastic stay at Little Tregarthen and wish we were still there. Walked into Padstow most days and was lovely to leave the car behind as only took 10 minutes. All the home comforts you could ask for and much more. Very high standard, beautiful little enclosed garden and lovely little touches on arrival from the owners. Would highly recommend anyone to stay here. Can’t wait to come back.

Warm welcome by owners. Welcome pack was generous: Cream tea with Prosecco, huge fruit platter and toiletries. Equipment provided was first class and an obvious lot of thought has been taken to what would be required to make your stay comfortable. The decor is of a high standard. It has Now TV and we got to use ‘Alexa’ for our first time. The patio area is private and also well equipped - gas bbq and outdoor furniture , with a fold away washing line provided with pegs. Useful particularly after a day at the beach. Helpful Books and leaflets about the local area were provided ( walks, places of interest, Camel trail well recommended) Supermarket close by. Easy to walk into town via the shortcut , albeit a bit steep. Outstanding property for a stay in Padstow - well recommended.

Really enjoyed our stay. The owners were available if we needed them but, never intruded on us. The property is entirely separate from theirs and I highly recommend it.
