Hidden away in a quiet corner of the owner’s grounds this boutique timber lodge has all you need to enjoy the Cornish lifestyle. This hand-crafted holiday lodge with, its own peaceful decking and terrace, enjoys the warm kiss of the Cornish sunshine. The surrounding exotic gardens, full of tropical plants, lends itself to the tropical feel of the lodge.
This location in Newquay gives immediate access on foot to a number of the towns best beauty spots: directly over the road is the Trenance boating lake and gardens with a lakeside restaurant. The botanical gardens enable one to stroll along this sheltered valley to Newquay Zoo, the swimming pool, the leisure complex and tennis club. The Gannel estuary is right on the doorstep and is a tidal estuary, home to many wading birds, and the perfect spot for nature walking at low tide. At high tide it’s a sea lake for swimming, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. Newquay is surrounded by many tourist attractions for all ages including go karting, Crealy Adventure Park, Dairyland, Japanese Garden and Trerice Manor, a National Trust house and garden.
A nearby horse riding stables organises excursions along the river, which eventually lead to Crantock Beach, a mile of golden sand and the perfect spot for a beach barbecue or picnic while the sun sets out to sea. Stand-up paddle board lessons can be booked on the beach in the National Trust car park.
Newquay is famous for its 9 magnificent beaches, all within a 10-minute drive. This is the home of surfing in the UK and an abundance of surf schools give you immediate access to trying it for yourself! Good restaurants abound on the beach and in town, and there is a working harbour, Sea Life Centre, a links golf course, bicycle hire and sea trips for pleasure and fishing.
The whole coastline is dotted with beaches and fishing villages from St Agnes in the south, to Padstow in the north with its fine dining and many excellent restaurants including those of the TV chef Rick Stein.
Padstow is a must as it provides a day and evening out for the whole family. Wander the narrow streets and enjoy the evening by the working harbour or hire a bike and cycle the famous Camel Trail.
At Watergate Bay, 2 miles from Newquay, you can take advantage of the wide beach which is home to the British Kitesurfing Centre.
Newquay’s central position in Cornwall makes it the perfect base from which to explore the whole county, with top towns like Truro, Padstow and St Agnes and the Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan are within a 20-minute drive. For guests staying over the Christmas period, a Christmas tree and decorations are provided. Beach ¾ mile. Shop 330 yards, pub ¼ mile and restaurant 275 yards.
