Golden Eagle Lodge - Facilities

This stylish detached timber lodge has been built and finished to a good standard and sits amongst other lodges in the grounds of a birds of prey attraction in Cornwall’s countryside. Guests at Golden Eagle Lodge can pay £10 per family and have access to the attraction for their stay. The two fishing lakes on site are available to guests for fishing, a picnic or a leisurely stroll. Literally across the road from the lodge is a spa with treatments available, a waterpark with wakeboarding and an aqua park. There are many golf courses local to the lodge including Merlin, Trevose, the Point and St Enedoc for all the golfers that have longed to have a view of the ocean while getting a round in. Just minutes from both Newquay and Padstow, and with many excellent beaches close by Golden Eagle Lodge is a great place to base yourself for your Cornish holiday.
The beaches of Mawgan Porth, Porth, Tregothan and Constantine are all easily reached. The town of Padstow, home to Rick Stein’s foodie empire, has plenty of places to eat but also many things to do such as cycling the Camel Trail along a flat trail that hugs the shoreline, and bike hire is available either in Padstow or in Wadebridge. You can take sea fishing trips from the working harbour and if you’re lucky you will see dolphins in the bay. A ferry across the estuary will bring you to Rock and you can spend a day on the white sandy beach or walk the coastal path to Polzeath and take in St Enedoc Church, the final resting place of Sir John Betjeman. Newquay with its surf culture, and amazing beaches, is also easily reached in minutes and has many attractions including a zoo, cinema, tennis club and working harbour, but the main attraction of this vibrant seaside town is any one of its nine beaches all with beachside cafés and bars to watch the stunning sunsets across the bay. Surf hire and surf lessons are available throughout the town at one of the many schools. Beach 5 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restuarant ¼ mile.

Golden Eagle Lodge - Reviews

Wonderful lodge, clean, well equipped, plenty of room. Also ideal for Padstow just 6 miles down the road.

The Golden Eagle Lodge is an absolutely beautiful place - it was immaculately clean with all home comforts, and more than we could have hoped for. The lodge has everything you could want - the kitchen is very well equipped, we loved the open plan of the lodge with eating together and the log burner. The beds were really comfortable with very luxurious quilts and pillows. We had lovely towels and separate towels for the hot tub. We absolutely loved the hot tub and each evening enjoyed relaxing in the warm bubbles and watching the stars. The location of the Lodge was perfect with only a short drive to Padstow, the shops were a short drive away and it gave us easy access to explore many different areas. Even when it was raining the lodge was equipped with games, books and DVD's to enjoy. Even our little one had Peppa Pig to watch which was a hit! The cot and highchair was excellent and so good. Having a young toddler the garden area and safe decking was ideal to ensure she was safe. There was ample parking for both our cars and we would highly recommend the Lodge to any future visitors. Kath was exceptionally kind posting back some items we had left behind after we left. We would definitely wish to return in the future and really enjoyed our stay. Thank you :)

The cottage is clean and well equipped. However it’s far too close to the road and there are no shops near by. The owners were very unfriendly, sometimes bordering on rude. To the point we was asked to come early to clean up before our check out time. The beds are very small we hardly slept a wink the whole week. The birds of prey centre is nice however the staff in the reception area are also in polite. The lodge is very very close to the road and there’s a constant traffic noise. One morning we was woke by diggers at the end of the garden only to find out it was the owner!!! He said he had no choice! I would never stay there again or recommend to anyone!

The lodge was great and very comfortable and well equipped. The owners answered our questions we had promptly and clearly before we arrived. Also supplying directions. Plenty of room for our group of 5 adults. Nice to finally find somewhere with a twin bedded room. So many places have all doubles or child size beds; when you have 2 brothers sharing they do not want a double bed or beds suitable for kids. Especially when they are 6'2" tall. So this was another bonus for us. Also, having a Birds of Prey Centre right next door; with access to it for all of our stay for one small payment per lodge, was a brilliant bonus. Village not far and close to many places of interest. Definitely recommend.

    Our stay June, 2019

The lodge was cleaned to the highest standard, well equipped, loads of natural light, spacious and really a home from home. Location albeit by a main road didn't disturb us at all, neighbouring property not intrusive. Kath & Mick very welcoming, left us a lovely welcome back & left us to enjoy our holiday, letting us know any issues to contact them. Great information binder in the lodge with local information & recommended places to visit alongside restaurants etc. Also liked the fact of the box binder which had the instructions for all appliances, such a handy thing to have. Location central to exploring Cornwall's attractions. Being situated on the Bird of Prey Centre grounds meant there was an abundance of wildlife, not just birds of prey. The hot tub was amazing & beneficial for my disabled mother after a hard day sight seeing. We loved every second we were at the lodge, although the weather wasn't the great sunny, warm days we hoped for, we made the most of our holiday & was sad to leave to come home. What Kath & Mick have created is truly amazing & relaxing, we will visit again.

Fabulous facilities and home from home for a week! So clean and tidy cannot fault anything about the lodge! Location means driving everywhere but that’s Cornwall in general. Would go back definitely and recommend to our friends. Fabulous
