The Linhay - Facilities

This barn conversion, adjacent to the owners’ home, has been developed in an historic Cornish clay drying kiln in one of Cornwall’s hidden wooden valleys, and is just 2 miles away from the beautiful south coast and beach. This holiday property provides ’upside-down’ accommodation, and has bags of space, as well as a small courtyard terrace and a large shared lawned area. The popular Eden Project attraction can be reached by foot from The Linhay, which, in line with its eco credentials, means that guests get a discount on entry fees. Visit the seafaring town of Fowey with its historic links to Daphne du Maurier, its royal yacht club and regatta, and the narrow lanes crammed with cafes, restaurants, gift and craft shops. A ferry can be taken across the estuary to Polruan, where a dramatic circular coastal walk starts. Charlestown is a World Heritage Site, and home to tall sailing shops, a shipwreck museum and excellent pubs and cafes - Lostwithel, home to many antique shops, is also minutes away. Lanhydrock House and Gardens is a large National Trust estate, home to off-road cycle and walking trails; easily reached and popular with visitors. Golf, surfing, cycling and horse riding are all available close by, proving that The Linhay is the ideal base for exploring Cornwall and all it has to offer. Shop 400 yards, pub 700 yards and restaurant 500 yards.

The Linhay - Reviews

  • Jean - Braintree 24th September 2019

    Our stay September, 2019

The Linhay was very well equipped, especially in the kitchen. There was every utensil or item you could need. Like home from home. The rooms were spacious with plenty of storage especially in the bedroom. Having the the lounge / diner upstairs meant it was lovely & light & also was very comfortably furnished. The private patio area was an added bonus.

A spacious, well maintained, well equipped and comfortable cottage. We have now stayed there on four occasions and fully intend to use it again.

    Our stay May, 2019

This is our usual May Bank Holiday destination and the reason we keep returning is because we just can't find a single fault. Wonderful accommodation with everything you could possibly need for a stay of, well, any duration really. Tea and Coffee with milk provided to keep you going until you've found your bearings, a lovely greeting from the owners who really go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. They even allowed us an extra night this time which made another day in the beautiful surroundings possible and we were extremely grateful - it also allowed us an extra round of golf! Upside down house with a double and a twin downstairs with a little WC in between - all immaculate. Upstairs you'll find a huge living/dining/kitchen area with the single most comfortable sofa bed I've ever had the pleasure of sleeping on. Dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer, oven... Bathroom complete with a shower cubicle, bath, basin and lovely big fluffy towels. Freeview TV, brilliant Wi-Fi, CD and DVD player for a night in if you fancy it. Everything you could possibly need for cooking indoors is available, and there's a nice little terrace outside where you can enjoy the sunshine. We've stayed here in the past with a party of 6 and it must be said that there is plenty of room, too. It's a beautiful conversion in a lovely old building completed to a very, very impressive standard - worth a chat with the lovely man who redeveloped it to get a better idea of the history, too! We'll be back next May as usual - and we're looking forward to it already. Might even pop back sooner!
