This spacious, detached family home is in a rural setting, close to many of South Cornwall’s finest beaches and villages. In a secluded location, Scawn Mill is set in a valley of the West Looe River with a number of separate gardens with ornamental trees, brightly coloured azaleas and rhododendrons in the spring and varieties of bamboo. In the past, the gardens have been opened to the public as part of the charity organisation, the National Gardens Scheme. The garden has some lovely trails with a 9-acre beech wood, streams, pond, raked gravel Zen garden and a river. This is the perfect family house for a quiet getaway, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, with country views from every window and perfect for all year round holidays, no matter what the season or weather.
Although tucked away, Scawn Mill is on the final part of the Smugglers Way, a 7 mile walk following the West Looe River to Looe. It is also just a 20-minute drive through country lanes to the fabulous fishing villages of Looe, Talland Bay and Polperro. Drive to Sandplace and catch the train along the scenic route into Looe, or take the train from the old market town of Liskeard all the way down to Penzance for a day trip. There are numerous cycle routes around the area and many surfing spots along the coast. Tourist attractions include The Monkey Sanctuary, Carnglaze Caverns, Lanhydrock House and Gardens (National Trust), Adrenalin Quarry and The Lost Gardens of Heligan. The Eden Project, near St Austell, is an easy drive and provides a great day out. From Looe, deep sea fishing excursions and pleasure boat trips can be taken, and there are coastal walks, horse riding and kayaking available in the local area. Beach 7½ miles. Shop and pub 2 miles, restaurants 4 miles.
