Mole Cottage - Facilities

A totally unique location on the edge of Bodmin Moor, with panoramic views stretching for miles and miles across the rolling countryside, and Dartmoor on the far horizon. Situated in a little unknown hamlet, just a mile from Minions and The Hurlers, on the top of the spectacular moors, a favourite location for walkers and families and an amazing viewpoint, so make sure you bring your cameras. The cottages surround a little courtyard with the owner living on-site, sheltered on the eastern side of Bodmin Moor and tucked away off the beaten track, it is a special place to totally relax in peace and tranquillity. If you’re looking for a quiet location with dog friendly accommodation and friendly owners in the heart of Cornwall, this is the one for you.
Each cottage is unique. Mole Cottage has a lovely large living area with a roaring wood burner, a compact double bedroom and bathroom. Snug and romantic, it is ideal for couples of all ages. The Small Barn is perfect for a small family, with good size bedrooms and a cosy open plan living/dining room/kitchen and again a lovely wood burner to snuggle up in front of. Henwood Barn is the largest of the three with a separate living room with a sofa bed for two people, a large wood burner, stone floor with rugs and big comfortable sofas. The kitchen/dining room is quite large and easily caters for seven people. Upstairs there is a single bedroom, a zip and link kingsize bed, which can be twin beds on request and a feature Victorian style double bed in the far bedroom.
This is a perfect spot for walking and cycling, the little village of Minions is just a short walk up a country lane to the open moorland and has a pub, café and small shop. The mining heritage centre, the village, the prehistoric Hurlers stone circles and the Cheesewring itself are all within walking distance. A super spot for families, couples and friends at any time of the year. Beach 15½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.
These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 13 guests.

Mole Cottage - Reviews

  • Sheena - Braunton 24th February 2020

    Our stay February, 2020

Lovely comfy, cosy cottage. Only downside is bedroom upstairs is very compact - not much room around bed. Having said that, whilst we were there at a time of one of the storms, the cottage was warm and comfortable with lovely views from the window.

Lovely cosy cottage with a log burner, situated in a small hamlet. We spent a week in January with our 3 dogs. The owner was there to welcome us and there was a cream tea waiting and a jug of milk in the fridge, which was a lovely touch. The comfy double bed is situated on a mezzanine with the bathroom leading off. The shower is low due to the ceiling height, but there is a seat over the bath so it’s possible to sit down. For those with dogs, there is a grassed area to the side of the cottage, but you will need to take them out on a lead. The cottage is a few miles from Minions, where there is lovely walks across the Moors and it’s ideally sited for visiting lots of attractions. No nearby shop, so make sure you’re stocked up. We really enjoyed our stay.

value for money if you need it for a base then travel around, we came in a transporter little big for the little lanes around the property.

    Our stay October, 2019

Lovely warm welcome and a cream tea on arrival. A lovely, peaceful spot with a beautiful view to Bodmin Moor from the living area and the sweet garden. No local amenities immediately nearby, but a very reasonable and scenic drive to Minions for the local shop and post office with a tearoom; Liskeard is around 6 miles away for food shops, if needed, and a museum and historic house and other small shops. Mole Cottage is an ideal base for travelling from - good fun to take the Looe Valley line from Liskeard to Looe for a day trip; more locally the Mining Heritage Centre and Hurlers Stones are worth visiting. Mole Cottage is clean, warm and comfortable and we'd definitely recommend it.

It is a nice place, however, the upstairs is very small and the ceiling is very low.....it is ok if you are less the 5feet 5inches tall

Friendly welcome from the owner including complementary cream tea. Cottage was small but welcoming. Perfect for a base while walking on the moors and visiting Cornwall. A lovely spot and breathtaking view to match. Would definitely use again and highly recommend this cottage.

On arrival we were made to feel welcome. The cottage is in beautiful rural setting. Beautiful walks for the dogs, very quite and relaxing. No amenities in the area but that was the purpose of booking this cottage. But great central location for everything we wanted to visit. Will definitely book again for this particular cottage.
