Lavender Cottage - Facilities

Tehidy Country Park itself is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, providing guests with miles of paths, bridle ways and cycle trails.
Close to the north coast, and approached from the main road via a delightful half mile tree lined drive, Lavender Cottage is one of a cluster of three former estate workers cottages, sitting within the old Basset family country estate, known as Tehidy. Tehidy Country Park can be accessed via a 500 yard path from the cottage door, where guests can wander around the 250 acres of woodland, bridle pathways and lakes, and admire the beautiful wild flowers and wildlife. When ready for a rest, why not stop off at one of the small tea rooms for a spot of afternoon lunch. There is also access to miles of coastal paths. The cottage will appeal to small families looking for a place with lots to do, and equally attractive to couples looking for a relaxing location whatever the season.
South facing, the attractive front garden enjoys hours of sunshine. The lawned area offers sun late into the evening, making an idyllic, tranquil setting for alfresco dining. Over one hundred years old, Lavender Cottage, with attractive granite frontage, provides tasteful and comfortable accommodation for four guests and one well-behaved dog. This property has been renovated to a good standard whilst ensuring the cottage remains unspoilt, retaining many of its beautiful and original features. The welcoming owners will meet all guests on arrival, and inside there will be some lovely, personal touches, including fresh flowers, wine and cream tea.
Portreath beach is just 5 minutes away by car and the coastal footpath can be accessed from the cottage, via numerous paths and trails that take you through the woods, past lakes with swans and ducks — a true haven for wildlife. Lavender Cottage is a golf enthusiast’s paradise, leave your car and stroll directly from the cottage door to the golf course. This is the perfect location for dog owners, as there are an array of dog friendly beaches just a short drive away.
The property provides easy access to the A30, which will allow guests to explore the delights of West Cornwall, including the ancient towns of Marazion, with St Michaels Mount, and Penzance, with its shops, art galleries and restaurants. Head east to the cathedral city of Truro, 10 miles away, where guests can enjoy a day at the theatre, cinema and bowling, or simply go for a day of shopping. Alternatively, guests can stay close by and explore the rugged shoreline of the north coast, with Godrevy Lighthouse perched on its rocky out crop, pretty sandy beach and cove home to seals, dolphins and sea birds. Gwithian Towans leading to the wide sweeping beaches and sand dunes at Hayle right down the coast to picturesque harbour and beaches of St Ives, is a true artist’s haven and is home to the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth Museum. Beach 2 miles. Shop 1 mile, pub 50 yards, restaurant 2 miles.

Lavender Cottage - Reviews

  • Katherine - Hull 24th November 2019

    Our stay November, 2019

We had a great week at Lavender Cottage. It is s fantastic location for walks especially if you have a dog, as there are miles of trails and footpaths to explore right from the front door. The cottage itself is welcoming and the owners were kind and friendly. The scones were delicious! Just two tiny gripes bring the score down from a perfect 10; the sofas are not particularly comfortable, they are leather and are rather solid, slippery and narrow; and the lack of a decent chopping board! To me sharp knives and a marble slab do not mix! Each to our own though, we had a fantastic time and really enjoyed ourselves.

A brilliant cottage with charming hosts who greeted us with a bottle of red wine and a basket of scones, jam and cream. We would definitely visit again.

Lavender Cottage has everything you need and in a perfect location. Situated down a country lane on the edge of Tehidy Country Park, it is extremely quiet and ideal base for exploring Cornwall. The cottage was extremely clean and has everything you need. The fresh flowers, cream tea, wine, biscuits and milk were lovely added finishing touches and very welcome after a long journey. I would definitely recommend and would love to return.
