Hawksland Cottages - Reviews

Owner very helpful even though last minute booking. Cosy cottage in quiet location with great, homely atmosphere. Had everything we needed and will definitely consider again if in the area.

Everything fine; but v disappointed that the local authority is clearly so unhelpful re recycling such that the owners do not feel able to allow holidaymakers to participate. I was resigned to taking it all with me and then found the recycling truck outside as I was loading the car on the last morning. The driveway access was challenging, and needed a pilot in the road!

Great quirky cottage ideally situated on Bodmin Moor. A great base to walk the Moor or a short drive to the sea. The interior was clean and comfortable with a smart TV, USB wall charging points and great WiFi connection. We will definitely be staying again.

I normally do not complain about many things at all. In this instance I shall make an exception however. We arrived at the cottage to find that the log fire was still full of ashes from the previous letting, the log basket was full of waste including and empty bag of coal. The paving on the way into the main entrance is lose and makes an awful racket as you cross into and out of the property. As you go into the cottage the floor tiles are loose and insecure, i lifted one out. The cooker was dirty and & my wife had to clean it before we could use it. The garden was beautiful and very well looked after, it was very secure and our dogs could roam freely and with no worry. The location is ideal right on the edge of Bodmin Moor, you are ideally placed to be within a short distance of many of Cornwall's amazing attractions. It is a real shame that the cottage is not looked after the same way as the garden because it has the potential to be a very nice letting but needs a lot more TLC. Pete

Wonderful cottage in a beautiful location. Plenty of space for the dog. Who was the most important part of the holiday! Very cosy and comfortable

  • Jo - Rochester 30th March 2020

    Our stay March, 2020

The cottage is lovely; but was very cold for the first 2 days (early March holiday). We had to replace a light bulb ourselves and it would have been helpful to have more soap (just a small amount in an old container. Despite that, in Summer, the cottage would be warm and the garden would be a joy. Overall, a lovely place to stay and good value.
