Gatehouse - Facilities

These attractive, converted farm buildings have been finished to a very good standard of holiday accommodation and are surrounded by green fields and only minutes from Perranporth. Perranporth on the dramatic North Cornwall Coast, has a stunning 3 miles of golden sand, backed by dunes and rolling fields. Right on the sand is a superb beach bar and restaurant with live music, good food and local ales. The coastal town is very family friendly with many surf, gift and local shops that line the high street that leads down to the beach. Surfing and surf hire can be found locally as well as a local golf course and horse riding which are both only minutes from Pencrennow. West of Perranporth is the coastal village of St. Agnes, and the quaint village of Crantock is to the east, both a must for the craft shops, stunning beaches and cliff walks. The surfing town of Newquay with its seven beaches is just minutes away with its many attractions which include a zoo, Sea Life Centre, Creally Adventure Park, Lappa Valley Steam Railway, leisure centre, golf course, pitch and putt course, parks and gardens. Newquay has many restaurants, cafés and shops as well as beaches and dramatic cliff top walks. With its beaches comes surf and surf schools, so you can try your hand at this exhilarating sport. Truro, the capital of Cornwall, is easily reached and is a must to explore the narrow cobbled streets and enjoy the restaurants, shopping, museum, cinema and theatre for an alternative day or evening out. Padstow, home to Rick Stein’s food empire is a must visit for all the family. Wander around the narrow streets that all lead to the working harbour and enjoy the ambience provided by this traditional, working fishing village. This stretch of coastline is dotted with quiet beaches, secluded coves and has a rich history of smuggling. There are many National Trust houses and gardens, such as Trerice Manor, Lanhydrock House, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, all within easy reach of these lovely holiday cottages. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

Gatehouse - Reviews

  • Lorraine - Oxford 15th February 2020

    Our stay February, 2020

Lovely cottage, second time we have stayed here. Amazing setting if you want to get away from everything, but only a few minutes drive to get to a local pub, and ten minutes away from the beach.

  • Carol - Aldershot 2nd December 2019

    Our stay November, 2019

Holiday in the area most summers so know where things are and what to expect. Bit disappointed that there were no sea views from indoors - other ones on site did have so would choose one of them next time. Initial problems with heating in the property - once resolved we were OK but did have a cold first evening. No instructions for the oven or hob - lucky that we had taken microwave meals for first night and got help on the second night from site caretaker.

  • Ian - Northampton 15th July 2019

    Our stay July, 2019

Quiet and peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle. No main roads to listen to traffic only the clip clop of the horses from the local riding stables. Only a few minutes drive to the seafront and local shop.

  • Deborah - Newark,Notts 15th May 2019

    Our stay May, 2019

Found the owner quite curt. The mattress was lumpy on right hand side. they wanted the cottage spotless before we left but was not clean when we got there and they left no cleaning products. Caretaker on sight but never welcomed us. Cottage photo misleading, the beach is down a very steep road and about 45 minute walk. Only basic crockery, no cups for tea. All in all, quite disappointing. Have enjoyed other cottages we have stayed at with you but would give this one a miss. The review book had quite a few disappointments in also.
