Coombe End Cottage - Reviews

  • Tricia - New Milton 2nd November 2019

    Our stay October, 2019

Cutlery had to be cleaned, to many cobwebs in property. Had to pay extra for electric and heating. Main problem was breakdown of boiler on day 3 and failure to get repaired for 2 days leaving property without hot water or heating. No refunds offered. Left property 2 days early as when boiler finally fixed property filled with oil fumes. A pity as good location.

This is the sixth visit I have made in the last three years. I can't imagine staying any where else for a relaxing holiday.

Good location for dog walking, peaceful area and beaches not too far away. Carn Brae Castle great for dinner. However, the cottage needs some TLC. The garden needs a good tidy up, the shrubs/plants/trees need cutting back. We had trouble with the drains in the shower room, there must be a blockage somewhere as the shower water was not freely draining away, when you flush the toilet it bubbles up n the shower tray, as does the water from the kitchen sink. The sinking fell away from wall n shower room. The oven or the grill appears to have been on fire ate the dials/controls have scorch marks. You can feel the springs in the mattresses on the single beds. Loo roll holder in upstairs bathroom broke. The heating control panel got stuck. Unfortunately this will be our last stay here at this cottage due to the above. It is a shame as it’s location suits us perfectly, hence why we have come back a few times, a shame the owner has let the condition of the property go. The property has potential of being soo much better.

Very overgrown garden, house a good size but so many issues--- dated , and neglected with holes in walls , unfinished piping work showing exposed cables and mortar , mouldy on some walls and dirty blinds in the conservatory. Impossible to have showers as the hose leaking and low water pressure and slippy , slimy wooden stand , bathroom shower no screen the water went all over the floor , water either very cold or too hot and no bath mats . Wifi did not work . The location is perfect and the house could be too if all the problems mentioned were solved . I would return if this was rectified but as it is I would no way recommend Coombe End Cottage .
